How to: mpe and gridcontrol (1 Viewer)

What are the mpe and gridcontrol controls?

I found these in the xml files, but they don't seem to do anything useful.

Does anybody have a description?

mpe is a tag placed by the old mediaportal editor, you can delete that

gridcontrol is like a java gridcontrol afaik to automatically position the buttons.
