To turn of all sound, then go to MP config\general\skin and untick the use sound in GUI.
Individual sounds can be turned off under the keys & sounds tab.

There's always the multishortcut plugin (useful for direct to pluns etc) which may do what you need or irserversuite.

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help!

When I first start watching a TV program the timeshift functions works perfectly. I can shift back and forth in time and it works...
