I'm going analogue with the Gigabyte board GA-MA78MG-S2H that just recieved HDMI 1.3 certification in revision 2.0 it seems.

you have always interesting informations. Where are they from? the GA-MA78MG-S2H is not even in Rev. 1.0 available!

After looking at some reviews comparing the Gigabyte and ASUS 780G boards, I ordered a GA-MA78MG-S2H yesterday when Newegg got a new shipment in. It will be delivered on Thursday, so I'll see if it's a revised motherboard.

This is going to be for my first HTPC build and I'm pretty excited. I'm going with a 45W Athlon X2 CPU also, to try and keep power/heat down.

I should have my GA-MA78GM-S2H (along with Athlon X2 BE-2350, 2GB Corsair TwinX XMS2 and Akasa Lowprifile cooler) tomorrow.

Also got a Silverstone LC19 on order which should be here in a few days. Looking forward to playing :)

Picked up my last parts yesterday including the Gigabyte GA-MA78-xxxxx board.

Put it all together except for HDD last night and the motherboard really blew me away. The quality of the build is awesome!

Also, I noticed the HDMI 1.3 certification on their homepage. It has not been there before, and I'm almost sure this will solve the problems with HDMI full hd audio with Power DVD 8.0.

    Now I have 1 problem.

The HDD I'm gonna put it is a 500 gb samsung spinpoint with about 4000 gb of files. How can I put a new partition on it (another partition) and keep the data?

(I'm gonna put it in HTPC and install windows xp, media portal etc on the new partition but I still need the files on the other partition from before...

I have partition manager and partition magic but I'm not sure how to do it without risk of losing all the data on its other partition... "logical drive" or not??

Can someone please help me out its the last part of the build.

    1. Make sure you have enough space for ur XP partition; I'd say about 30G's free.
    2. Boot with the setup-cd of XP
    3. create a new partition ans install XP on it...

Yep, got everything up and running now with the gigabyte board.

Allthough I need some help with the overscan... I run 1920x1080 at 24 hz wich is recommended for my Pioneer plasma (1366x768 native) and it runs fine, allthough ofcourse I get some overscan.

There is a setting for scaling/overscan i cartalyst center but its only highlighted/on when running 1280x720.

How do u fix the overscan ?

Interesting article here on the 780G boards for anyone planning to put a high-end cpu in one.

Most (all?) small PC cases accept only ITX motherboards, which have only one PCI-E slot. So you could install only one PCI-E tuner card. A quad-tuner card would give you four tuners, but if you wanted more tuners you would need to use the TBS eight-tuner card, or use external tuners, either USB tuners (available with single or dual...

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...
