    Hi all,
Is it possible to force Movies Title in a foreign language (italian in my case) ?

That should already work, enable the IMDb+ scraper-script option (via IMDb+ plugin) for secondary language. And be sure to not enable the "force English title" option then (or it would only get summary/tagline/etc in the other language).

This should (if you select Italian) use the imdb.it website to get the Italian titles.

Unfortunatly I rely on the data present at that site, which might not be translated/accurate.

But in most cases it works, such as:

"The Dark Knight Rises" (at imdb.it) = "Il cavaliere oscuro - Il ritorno" @ http://www.imdb.it/title/tt1345836/

The only problem is that summary/tagline/etc can be empty (as is the case with that movie), but usually that changes when movies actually get released in theaters. Still it can be a problem, especially for older movies where no Italian editor at the IMDb website took the time yet to enter the missing data.

If you still have issues, something else might be going on, so let me know then.

    Hi RoChess,
thanks for your support, where should I select 'Italian' to force the usage of imdb.it?

    Thanks again

    Hi RoChess,
thanks for your support, where should I select 'Italian' to force the usage of imdb.it?

You already have "Italian" selected as 'secondary language' and you have the English title overrule option disabled, so it should already work. However I noticed you added "it" to the advanced regular expression system to add Italian language to the 'English' title detection system, wich will then break the ability to properly detect the English title. Not 100% sure, but that combination might have broken the Italian title system from imdb.it as it is now trying to use Italian original titles from imdb.com.

With all the combinations of options that IMDb+ covers, it is very hard to explain what the interaction is between settings, both positive and negative. I really need to get the wiki/documentation improved, but I also want to add new features as well as trying to juggle it all alongside work and time to enjoy myself as well :)

So change that back, if you want to go back to default settings, you can also just delete your options XML file and the IMDb+ plugin will recreate a new one. I also need to release a new IMDb+ plugin that contains updated language files that explain all the options a little better as well, so hopefully I get to that later today. I have tons of new features on hold as well, so I need to strip that work out first and reserve that for a future plugin release. Never rest for the wicked

    PS: Please download: http://imdbplus.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/IMDb /Languages/en-US.xml

rename it as "it.xml" and open it in notepad and translate all the: <string (ignore)>.... English Text ... </string>
    into: <string (ignore)>.... Italian Text ... </string>

Italian is the only language file I'm still missing and it would make the plugin easier to use. I was going to have chemelli do it (one of the MediaPortal programmers), but he is very busy with work/life/etc, so I'm hoping you (or another Italian user) can help me out.

    Hi RoChess,
Probably I've understand the problem ... All works well, the problem was that the movie's title I'm considering was als in 'rename.xml' ... so they was traslate. I've fullfilled the custom translate file ... and ... Thats all !!!

About 'it.xml' I'm happy to help you in a translation. Today or tomorrow I'll send you (post in the forum or direct e-mail as you prefer) the translated file.

    Thanks again

Ok, that makes much more sense now :)

I thought you meant *ALL* your titles were English, and the odds of you only have movies in your collection that are part of the default rename database system is zero to none. That is a very big thing on my ToDo list, to make the rename system be compatible with all the languages supported, but my initial attempt at what I thought was going to be an easy thing didn't work out well, so I have to really rethink the whole approach.

And yes, just post/attach the "it.xml" at the end of: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-support-for-plugin-and-rename-system.103510/

Then I can release a new plugin and finally resume work on new features.
