A bunch of my movies keep adding "IMDb-" infront of the file name which screws up the file structure.
Is there a way to turn this off?

I had same problem until I used imdb+ by rochess, install by mpei and use MP's GUI to configure how you want scrapper to behave.

I am also getting the same bug...

Paranoid, I will try installing that plugin as well.

However, shouldn't MediaPortal find movies without that in the title without having to install a plugin on the plugin?

Websites constantly adjust the way they present data, and the IMDb website is no exception.

The MovingPictures plugin needs to be made aware of this. Fortunatly the system used to 'scrape' the IMDb website can be updated manually, and there is a new imdb.com scraper script available at the Google Code project website that fixes the "IMDb - " prefix problem as well.

Everytime a new MovingPicture version is released, the latest version of those scaper-scripts get included. But a new release of the MovingPictures plugin has not been made public yet, so you would be forced to manually update the related scraper script(s).

The IMDb+ scraper-script is seperate. It is also based on the IMDb website, but it offers many more additional features, such as auto title renaming to group series together ('Star Wars', 'James Bond', 'Harry Potter', etc), optionaly force English title on your foreign movies ('Zwartboek' becomes 'Blackbook'; 'Shichinin no samurai' becomes 'Seven Samurai'; etc), it also supports RottenTomatoes ratings, and much more. Each option is also configurable to your liking.

This is where the IMDb+ plugin comes into play, it allows you to adjust all the options that the IMDb+ scraper script support, but it also installs and updates the IMDb+ scraper-script fully automatic when I release a new version. So if anything 'breaks' again from a change at IMDb website, I can fix it, and within a short period of time (less then 24 hours) the IMDb+ plugin on your system will check to see if an update to the script is available and auto-install it for you.

I'm sure a new MovingPictures plugin will be released soon that contains the new default imdb.com scraper-script that also fixes the "IMDb - " prefix problem, or you can manually update it, or you can try out the IMDb+ plugin

    Enjoy.

Thanks for the info and ongoing work you do RoChess...

What you are saying makes sense and I appreciate the work that the MovingPictures team does as well.

Although, installing your scraper sounds like a good idea in any event :)

My thoughts: Indeed the tests are a leftover from long ago and have no real value anymore. As for things that depend on external sources (imdbscripts, subtitledownloader, onlinevideos etc): that is always a struggle to keep everything (even if you only update those you actually use yourself) working. We do try to find the most stable...
