Its been a while since I read or followed this thread and maybe you guys have figured out the Dolby Digital stutter issues, but I installed RC2 last night and finally have Dolby Digital working great on my server and client machines. After upgrading I was building a new client machine, and after switching the the SAF 4.0 codec pack I thought I would venture a try at DD once again. Much to my surprise, it worked with the current configuration and no changes were needed.

Just thought I would throw that out there in case others were still having the same issue...

    I don't believe you!! :D
I'll have to give it a try. So you used SAF 4.0 and not 5?
Does that mean you aren't using Shark007 codec pack anymore?

The only issue I have found thus far, is occasional audio sync issues. Which could be a deal breaker. I was getting annoyed last night with a show I was watching on NatGeo. Funny it only happens on the main show, not the commercials. Even though the commercials are in DD as well.

Yes, I am currently using SAF 4.0, not the Shark007 codec pack. But I will qualify that statement with this... I was never one to play around with Graph Edit and setting the priorities of my codecs, but after issues I was having with a current install I started playing around with Graph Edit to see which codecs were being used and a program (cant remember the name off hand) to set the Win 7 codec priorties. By the time I got to that point I had already uninstalled the Shark007 codec pack and installed & uninstalled the SAF 5 codec pack. SAF 4 (stable) was on the machine at that time so I stuck with it.

I wouldn't rearrange your codec packs if you are running RC 2 and still experiencing the issue. Like I said the audio sync is still an occasional problem. Until it is worked out Im not sure it would be worth breaking something that already works. Unless of course you are just up for the challenge ;)

    Hi Guys,

I've been trying to get my HD-PVR running smoothly for a while now but am still having difficulties with stuttering.

When I'm watching TV through my HD-PVR every minute or so I'll have a big stutter where video will stop for a moment then start again - I'm not sure what's causing it - I've tried afew different codec settings but it doesn't seem to correct.

I've attached some logs that I think might show the issue happening - I'm particularly curious about the following excerpt which is a pattern I see from time to time in the TS Reader file:

Does anyone have any ideaswhat cold be causing this? I can't wait to switch over to the HD-PVR for all channels because the quality is awesome - heaps better - but this stutter is a real problem.

I'm running MP RC2, SAF 5.0beta1, I have a multi-seat setup in MP, all running on Windows 7.

Any help would be massively appreciated :)

    Hey BKCH,
I am using SAF 4.0 Final (unlocked) and it is working great. I have attached a few images of my config if it helps you at all. The first pic is the MP codec config, the second is the TV Post Processing (add FFDShow), and the last pic is the FFDShow configuration.

Also, I have set up my clients to NOT use RTSP, you can get more info on that here -> https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-avoiding-rtsp-multiseat-mode-test-plz-36735/

    Hey WileE,
I though that the post-processing filter was supposed to be FFDShow Audio Processor and not Decoder?
Also, shouldn't the box be checked for it to be active? Otherwise I have no clue why there is a checkbox there in the first place

    Hey Sjeffrey,
Hmmm, I will have to go back and check the SAF 4.0 install instructions, but for some reason I thought it said use the decoder.

What the heck? :) Well, I guess if I had the wrong filter it wouldn't matter because it wasn't checked? :) I will check that out tonight too....

Anyway, with or without the post-processing the SAF 4.0 filters are doing a bang up job for me :D

Did you ever play around with the DD with RC2?

I installed it last weekend, install SAF unlocked, used liveTV, stutter after about 20 seconds

I think I might try with 4TR for a while. The whole avoid RTSP thing I don't even know if I have implemented or not.
I want to know if MP on it's own can play live TV properly.

HI Wile E. - Thanks heaps for posting!!

I spent hours this weekend trying a bunch of things - but mostly they've made little difference.

    I've tried:
    SAFv4 v SAFv5
    RTSP vs no RTSP
I also copied a recorded .ts file from my server to the local MP client and played it from there and still get the same problem.

But I'm still getting evr logs with lots of:
    02-05-2010 22:56:10.083 [7b0]Dropping frame, behind 4.49 ms, last sleep time 0.00 ms.
    02-05-2010 22:56:10.122 [7b0]Dropping frame, behind 3.24 ms, last sleep time 0.00 ms.
    02-05-2010 22:56:10.199 [7b0]Dropping frame, behind 1.04 ms, last sleep time 0.00 ms.

    and TsReader logs with:
    02-05-2010 23:03:46.013 [1194]Aud/Ref : 5119.630, Late Compensated = 46.720 ( 1.058 A/V buffers=01/24), Clk : 45.662498, State 2
    02-05-2010 23:03:46.026 [1194]Aud/Ref : 5119.662, Late Compensated = 46.752 ( 1.069 A/V buffers=01/26), Clk : 45.683270, State 2
    02-05-2010 23:04:47.366 [1340]Vid/Ref : 5179.910, Late ?-frame(00), Compensated = 107.000 ( -0.013 A/V buffers=01/70), Clk : 107.013062, State 2
    02-05-2010 23:04:47.402 [1340]Vid/Ref : 5179.790, Late ?-frame(00), Compensated = 106.880 ( -0.170 A/V buffers=01/68), Clk : 107.049789, State 2

Some questions for anyone who has reliable performance from the HD-PVR:

    1. What capture settings do you use? (I'm currently using: 10.9MB/s AC3)
    2. What display settings are you using? (I'm using 1080p)
    3. What brand video card are you using?
    4. Do you use SPIDF bypass output for audio??
    5. Do you see the errors above in your logs?
    6. How smooth is your experience??

The fact that I get a similar results even when I copy the file locally seems to rule out network and my TV server - so I'm assuming the issue is either client/video-codec/video-card/audio-codec. I also have 2 x Clients having the same problem - which suggests to me that it's not video-card or SPIDF related (because one device uses SPIDF and the other doesn't and they have different video cards nvidia ION vs Radeon)

The best performance I've been able to get yet is with SAFv5 - I'm seeing markedly better performance from SAFv5 than SAFv4. Here's one other interesting data point - live TV has much less stutter than recorded TV - very weird...

Any ideas at all??? I'm loosing hair and WAF fast!!!
