The step is bigger if you were to repair your system. I doubt that this is even possible.but it's a big step if only to be able to install MP2. .
I agree with @HTPCSourcer that you need to re-install Windows. But which Windows?OK, if repairing the system is the only realistic way to be able to install MP2 then I'll migrate to Windows 10.
If you can't install on a different partition you may consider buying a cheap SSD (128 GB is approx. 50 EUR) and do a completely fresh install on a new drive. In that case disconnect the existing drive before installing or you may end up with undesired interconnections on the other drive. The alternative is to go straight for W10 but I was wanting to retain the Windows Media Centre program if MP2 fails to deliver.
You could try downloading a Windows 7 ISO image from Microsoft (I have not tried this, so I don't know whether it actually works):I also have the product key for the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. But that was done in conjunction with the Microsoft upgrade process so I have no DVD for that.
I used WMC for five years, before eventually deciding that MP provided a better match for the functionality that I wanted from a DVR. I left WMC before the problems with the EPG started. However, what prompted me to investigate MP2 was the fact that the EPG (electronic programme guide) of the WMC is no longer supported by Microsoft and there appears to be no reliable replacement that will work with it. If I could find one that would work in conjunction with WMC I'd be a happy man!
Yes, @osre implemented the stop processes action via named pipes. Is this the "handle"/name of a contributor that you are inviting to comment?
Debugging on your system would be a bit tricky, as I would have to either write you all steps how to set a dev environment or do it remotely using team viewer.Unfortunately, I do not have the necessary knowledge to begin to be able to do this. However, as we have established, I can follow explicit instructions so am willing to do that if it is possible to come up with an idiot's guide!
