Good to hear.

I've looked at the installer and if you select 'Dedicated TV Server installation' then it sets USEMPCLIENTS to false. I think my idea was some people would not want to remote control any clients. I'll update the installer and web app to allow this to be an option.

Some minor bugs I've found:
- When adding new clients, the name of the client is always saves in lowercase.
- Save login/password does not seems to be working

Suggestions for future releases:
- Option to skip login-window for requests from a configured lists of known mac-addresses
- Full MCE remote control replacement (Divide the buttons into multiple pages)
- Support to start movies from Moving Pictures and tv-series from MP-TVSeries
- Option to use IIS instead of Apache (since most Dedicated tv-servers probably already has this)

Bugs
- There was a reason for this (which escapes me at the moment) but I'll have a look at this.
- Make sure you have cookies enabled on your browser.

Futures
- This has been previously discussed and the outcome was the ability to set a long cookie timeout. There's no easy way to get at your MAC address from a browser request.
- Better remote control implementation is already on the roadmap
- Moving Pictures and TV Series support are also on the roadmap.
- The trouble with IIS is I'd then have to support iPiMP on 5 different web servers and have to cater for different preferences e.g. Setup as a new website or as a new vdir in an existing site. There are a few instructions in this thread about using IIS and I may look at doing a comprehensive install instructions for IIS 7.5 (windows 7). The installer already allows you to select just the web files to install,this was added to allow those who have an existing web server and know how to use it to manually setup iPiMP. I will look at providing an IIS 7.5 instruction page though.

Hi

first of all THX awesome Plugin

But for some reason i got a problem with my installation.
i have a TVServer with 2 Clients Setup, seperated on 3 PCs.

I installed the Server "version" von my TVServer (2th option in the setupscreen "TVServer installation" it was),
then i installed the Client Version on one of my Clients (media portal remote control plugin . last installation option)

after that i started the browser and navigated to my tvservers ip, an logged in as admin.
but for some reason now i do not get the "Mediaportal clients" option as shown on this screenshots First_Use - ipimp - Project Hosting on Google Code
:/ what did i do wrong?

This is sensational! Thanks so much! I’m amazed that by following your instructions on internet use I can now run this from anywhere! Wow!

I have one issue I'd love to solve though and that’s the same one raised in post 872. The difference is that in my case I'm using the latest iPimp 4.0.0 without any previous install, on XP-SP3, and MP 1.0.2. The error message is:

!! FUBAR !!

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

at Website.TVGuideMainMenu.DisplayChannelGroupsMenu(S tring wa) in D:\Dev\vs2008\MediaPortal Universal Web Interface\Website\iPhone\TVGuide\MainMenu.aspx.vb: line 89 at Website.TVGuideMainMenu.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in D:\Dev\vs2008\MediaPortal Universal Web Interface\Website\iPhone\TVGuide\MainMenu.aspx.vb: line 64 at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

I don’t know if this is related but during install I got and error that port 80 was already in use so uninstalled/reinstalled specifying port 99, and then got the same issue as mentioned in post 877: "iPIMP Apache Service Start failed - Reason: -8".

Somehow everything seems to work great though except for the TV guide as mentioned. Any thoughts on what this TV guide issue could be caused by or how to debug it?

This issue has been reported by another user on the iPiMP issue tracker.

I've debugged this and found the issue is to do with the number of TV channel groups - can you confirm how many TV channel groups you have?

The workaround is to have at least two TV channel groups.

I'll fix this in the next release.
