iPiMP cannot WOL the server it is running on. It can only WOL remote MP clients.

Dude, that doesn't make sense...
If iPimp is running on my iPhone and can send WOL packet to clients, why can't this be done for server also ??
All that needs to happen is for iPimp to send WOL packet via web ( 3G ) or Wi-Fi ( local net ) to my server's NIC.
Otherwise, this app is only useful if server is running 24/7 which is kinda silly and useless if trying to save electricity..

iPiMP is a web application, it runs on the server and installs nothing on your iPhone.
You need a WOL app from the app store or Cydia.

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo.
