Is there a plugin or is it possible to have an option to have the htpc shutdown after the next recording has stopped?

Not totally sure what you mean, most people use powerscheduler to control on\off by standby\hibernate, or do you want to totally shutdown pc, which is then useless for any more recording

Ok I looked at powercheduler ... are there any recommended settings ?? as I dont want it to shutdown/sleep /or hibernate (whichever is better) while recording or using mediaportal.

TV Server plugins are listed on this page, and "EPG Cleaner" can be downloaded from this page.
Note: I don't know what bitness the plugin has. It might be 32-bit, or it might be "any cpu". The plugin is not listed by the "MP Extensions" tool, so I don't know whether it has been tested with the most-recent MP releases.

I was just tinkering with a few settings in the MediaPortal configuration and am happy to have found the cause of the problem.
Disabling the option "Single seat setup: force RTSP usage" under "TV/Radio", "Advanced Options" resolved the issue.
After I disabled this option, I was able to delete the recordings the first time...

Can you try excluding the recording folder of all background processes? (f.e. defender/antivirus etc, and maybe (don't know if that is even a thing) from creating thumbnails)
