Pfff.......just created a beautiful 3 led case with serial cable attached. Turned the htpc around to plug it in and found out.........that my motherboard is missing a serial port

If getting a usb/serial adaptor be careful, the cheap ones on ebay often have slightly different wiring. I got one that works but I have to reverse commands, and sometimes even then I lose settings when rebooting. I know the Iogear GUC 232A works the best. You can also try a pci or pcie serial card, I got one with two serials and one parallel that works like a charm (serial tuner, led, and lcdsmartie)

This is a great program! It should be listed under the MP Applications as I only came across it by accident tucked away in this forum. Great work - many thanks!

Do you know if your lovely LEDcontroller app might be able to be modified to monitor other applications?

I use a video surveillance app called "Blue Iris" which has a traffic light icon in the software showing GREEN if the app is actively monitoring webcams for motion, ORANGE if it's about to start monitoring and RED if monitoring has been disabled.

I'd love to be able to have 3 LEDs to copy this status....

Is this something you might be interested in looking into?

    Regards,

    Tommy.

    Hi there,

This looks like a very nice facility.

I see it can put an LED on depending upon network status.

I am trying to make a system which puts on a status light if a netBOIS name is on the network or when a system is transmitting on Bonjour (I want to know when my FreeNAS server has completed booting up).

Is this possible with your system?

    Thanks

    Further to my last post:

I have also had a look at LEDcontroller and it seems to do everything I need except being able to monitor an IP address other than a MP server.

I have had a look at LEDSdevice which has an option to manually trigger an LED ON or OFF by using the command line command "c:\program files\LEDdevice\LEDdevice.exe USEREVENTX=Y where X is the LED number and Y is 1 or 0.

I have then used a freeware programme called "Check Host" which pings an IP address every x seconds and if it transitions from available to unavailable it can run a command line. Similarly if the detection of the IP address transitions from unavailable to unavailable it will send a different command line.

I am using this function in "Check Host" to manually turn the LED ON and OFF as the server comes on and off line by commanding USEREVENT1=1 and USEREVENT1=0 respectively.

How difficult would it be to create a new option to do something like this? Alternatively to do the IP scanning itself?

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the repeated posts (I think this forum may be a little dead in any case as it has been 6 months since the OP last posted - which is a shame as it is a lovely plugin).

Just in-case others are trying to do the same as me I thought I would reply with my solution.

Effectively I am using both LEDSdriver and LEDcontroller together with LEDSdriver powering a USB keyboard to do the server status and LEDcontroller doing the MP bits through LEDs connected to the COM port.

It seems to work well in that combination.

The only problem is that I do not seem to be able to get LEDcontroller low disk space, or high CPU usage indications working, but it is not the end of the world.

    Thanks for a great plugin.

Concerning your IP questions, you just want to ping a pc to see if it is online?

What doesn't seem to be working concerning CPU usage and low disk space?
As far as I know it all seemed to work correct at the time of testing.

I did check this post regurlay, but there wasn't much reaction anymore, from other users, so I stopped looking at it, that's why it has been 5 months....
