Ambibox and W7 is not such a great combination in my experience with Lightpack (clone). It works best with Aero off but then you almost certain get video tearing. Just because of Aero I've upgraded tot W8(.1) and all the problems are gone. For media playback purposes I find W8(.1) to be chosen over W7. Ambibox is a fine peace of software, I like it.

One of the reasons we want to add support to AtmoLight, because then it does not have to use any of the AmbiBox capture modes, but gets the images directly from AtmoLight, with Aero enabled, high framerate and no tearing ;).

I hope that it get to work with atmolight [emoji1]
I was able to implement AmbiBox, and its working as expected. However AmbiBox has a bug in its API server that can crash AmbiBox. Im in contact with the dev, he knows about the bug and sent me a test version that fixes this.
We will have to wait until he updates his official release, then you can test/use AmbiBox with AtmoLight ;).

Just to let you know.. I have ambibox and playclaw running and it looks great... Of course it will be nice to let atmolight du color calculation, but for now this is a workaround.. I let atmolight turn off my hue lamps and then let lightpack take over... It gives it a little bit of a cinema feel..

I have now a setup of Lightpack, Ambibox and Atmowin on a test basis (not fixed on the TV). Works great so far. What is unclear for me is if/how if have to setup in Ambibox on which position the 10 strips are on the TV (meaning only left/right or 4 up/2 each side/2 down).

You can drag the different positions on any place on your screen and you can easily change the (capture)size of each light channel. Within the software you can adjust what should be where. Not that you shouldn't choose a more logical position of the strips but even if you put them random on the back, you still can change it easy within Ambibox.

This is very very nice... I can see a big improvement over the 'playclaw workaround'... But I have one suggestion to ambilight. I have both hue lamps and lightpack working... What I really want to do is let lightpack do the ambilight effects (mediaportal live), and turn off the hue lamps whenever video is being played... What that be at all possible?.. It's just like in the cinema. The light turns off when a movie is about to begin :).. But the addition of ambibox support is so much appreciated.. Thnx

    Great to hear :).
Have you tried the new context menu that @Rick164 added to AtmoLight? Afaik you can switch your Hue system off with that without interfering with other AtmoLight stuff.

What kind of setup of the LEDs would you recommend on the following hardware basis: 46" TV, Lightpack with 10 LED Strips and the TV is about 5cm away from the wall. 4 strips top, 2 each side, 2 down? Or is then maybe the distance between the LEDs too large and maybe only 5 strips each side is netter. What do you think?

The length of my strips was almost perfect for the 55". Ten strips of 9 LEDs each.

Started in bottom left corner (front view of TV) going upwards with the cable coming off at that end, then leaving about an inch, and started with strip #2 from the cable side towards top of the TV, but not all the way to the end. Strip #3 then went from corner alongside top of the TV. So I would always have 2 cables together.

    Code:
    3333« »4444 5555« »6666 7
    2 7
    2 ^
    ^
    *                       *
    1 8
    1 AAAAA« »99999 8

» or * is where the cable on the LED strip connects to.

Due to the way Samsung has the slot for mounting the optional stand, it actually worked out perfect for placement of strip #9 and #10.

I have 4 on top 2 down on each side and 2 down... My TV is 55" and on a stand... Ca. 20 cm. From the wall... That looks great in my opinion, if that can help you...
