Maria DB instead of MySQL (1 Viewer)

Hi, I wanted to share that I've moved from MySQL to Maria DB for MediaPortal and all seems fine.
MySQL is owned by Oracle. Maria has a pretty easy installer.

Its open source !!!

An Update.

MariaDB above version 10 will fail to work with MediaPortal.
This is due to:

"Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types"

I tried MP 1.33 on MariaDB 11.3.2.
I'm sorry to say that the problem persists with fresh installs of both.

NOTE: MariaDB was set to use utf-8 encoding.

I'm happy to persevere for the community and report back any updates.

Did you choose a utf-8 DB or was that not selected.

I don't even know, I'll look now... but I just migrated from MySQL to MariaDB a couple of years ago...

OK - to save you the trouble - I have installed Maria with both utf-8 and non-utf-8 and with latest Maria and MP 1.33 its failing with the cast to NULL problem.
