The Catalyst 7.10 Suit works also not with my Configuration. I have backdatet to 7.2 and all works very fine. If anybody find a solution for this problem i would like to hear about it. Thanks a lot for the tip with the Catalyst 7.2 driverset.

Bad News: I have the same problem with the menu freezes and the X1250 video chipset.

Good News: The Spinsafe Skin (for me) does not lock up like the default one.

Lockup: Default Skins, Spinsafe Revolve
Working: Spinsafe

Will post some more detailed information when I have time but just wanted to see if that helped anyone.

I got same problem... choppy picture in TV Mode. No preview in My TV and MP running very instable.

I followed the advices discussed in this thread, i.e. deinstalled the new catalyst drivers and installed driver version 7.2. Also the Catalyst Control Center from version 7.2. No success. Then I followed the link on the ATI page (from the 7.2 driver page) and installed the Avivo package. No changes. If I use the ATI CC MPEG Codec the picture is even worse...

Then I have uninstalled MP 2.3 RC3 and installed MP 2.2. Performance was even worse.

Anybody has an idea what I can do??? My hardware should easily be capable of serving an HTPC???!!! I am close to give up

Does it have any influence that the signal from our cable provider comes as QAM256?

I would be very thankful for your help!

Please find enclosed my log files!

    Hi all,

Same problem with same chipset (AMD690G with onboard X1250). Until now I used the last drivers from ATI (v7.10).
I use XP2 with all possible update

I'll try to use the version 7.2 of catalyst and post my result....

OK ok --> catalyst 7.2 are stable and work very good with media portal.

Reading this thread, I can conclude that ONLY this version work ( I've tried personnely 7.9, 7.10, 7.5 and 7.3).

Tired of all XP problem, I've installed vista and... all work like a charm (with version 7.10). I think now ATI a too much work to have good vista driver and forget XP.

I think that administrator or developper need to post a sticky with this problem. I fact I've wasted 2 weeks with this problem, and desperate I've thinked to go back to mce!!!

So please, post a news or communicate about this problem :

AMD Radeon X1250 (ati 690G) -> any motherboard

    1. With XP -> The only stable drivers with MediaPortal is 7.2, (I suggest to not install CCC)
    2. With Vista -> no problem

    hi,
same problem here... 7.2 works, but there's no overscan (1280->1368) and avivo perfomance seems to be worse...
7.10 does not work! the error occurs (i not 100% sure, but for me it seems as if) when text, pics etc. are sliding like in animated texts (descriptions) or slide shows like the cover based video section...
hope amd will take care of xp users...
as i read right here the flipY function for skin seems to be the one (in combination with ati 690g) causing such a mess..

Can anybody explain, why the TechnoTrend Media Center runs smothly with latest ATI & CCC drivers under Vista x64, but MP has choppy pciture (tried with Vista x64 and XP Prof. SP2 ).

Are you sure the only problem is the driver for the grafikcard??? I have tried version 7.2 without success...

I cant get that damn thing running.... very frustrating.

Ok we can see that the problem really come from our 690G.

Has I've already say this problem doesn't occur into vista, so for me the driver are the problem.

    mkau :

Mediaportal use lot of directx to do rendering, with crapy drivers the image can't be good. But I'use ffdshow postprocessing and I can have very good images quality.

As suggested before, for me the best thing is to open ticket by ATI about this problem

    hi,
with catalyst 7.10 and avivo decoders (highest deinterlacing active) the picture is fine, only football is a bit blurry sometimes. but no interlacing fragments are left.
and after i set all flipY in the skin files to false everthing works fine. (btw what is flipy good for?)
