I don't know, I kinda like it on that side.
I have another idea, but its much easier with a picture to go with the explanation. Excuse me for the bad job on the MS paint...

It seems to me that the space under 1 is smaller than the space under 2. what if you made 1 a little smaller and 2 a little bigger, in order to show some more of the cover, jus visible under 3. Perhaps resize the covers abit, to make more room?


And about the border around the infobox, how about make it rounded, kind of the same style as 4



Another thing, I just thought of:
The space under 2 could possibly be where the mediainfo-logo's went, when that gets implented in moving pictures? Perhaps limit to 2-3 logos to not clutter the screen. If possible, then prioritize the logoes, so if the movie is HDTV, this would always show, even if there are 5 other mediainfo logos? Just a thought.


alot for listening to all the ideas we provide in this thread. I have absolutely no skinning or coding knowledge, so the only way I can help with MP is to come up with ideas - and its great to see that they are appreciated

Yep we have stopped development due to you and you suggestions We have both just been a bit busy as we have exam time at University etc. Ill have some shiny new screenshots out tomorrow I hope!

I knew I should have kept my mouth shut .
It just seemed that 3 days was an awfull lot of time for this thread to go without anyone coming in here with withdrawel symptoms in hope of seeing a new screenshot that would give them their fix.
I know I've been shaking nonstop since my last post

Well done! I tried XBMC because of this beautiful skin, but went back to Mediaportal after a few days. I'd love to have this skin for Mediaportal ASAP!

For me, it went in the other way.

I tried XBMC for the skin and now it's installed and running on my media center. I can't believe the speed when loading, navigating library, etc. All goes smooth and all can be configured from the Media Center, not a separate config program like MediaPortal. Because sometimes you forgot to add a share in the config and then you have to close MP, re-open config, add the share and then re-open MP, all this of course with keyboard and mouse, not from the remote.

In XBMC, all can be configured from the remote.

And the skin, IT'S AWESOME !!! don't know if the guys who are porting the skin can make it work like in XBMC, hope so...

Other thing, when I was running MP, the process took 225MB in the task manager, XBMC only 50MB.

For the fanart lovers, XBMC load fanart automatically for Movies and TV-Shows, no need for skin edit and stuff like that.

To summarize, give XBMC a try, you won't regret it !!

I don't particularly want to turn this into a XBMC thread, but I tried that avenue and it was still missing too much. The GUI was amazing but there wasn't as many plugins which I'm used to after using MP. The biggest killer for me was the lack of hardware acceleration and config options for video. I suspect by the time they've sorted that out we'll have MPII up and running and any advantage of their GUI will be gone.

Most of what you say is true, it is faster and easier to use, but i had audio/video syncing problems with alot of files where Mediaportal or VLC or Media Player Classic played them just fine. Also XBMC doesn't have the screen selector or any other option to open it on a second display ( I don't have or want a dedicated HTPC and i don't record TV-programs), I fixed the second display (my TV) problem by installing a program called "Ultramon" though, but the syncing problems is the main reason i switched back to Mediaportal. Mediaportal is also easier to customize, the skin textures aren't protected and so on. Also XBMC doesn't use your graphics card for hardware acceleration of video right now, so you do need a fast CPU.

Something alot like My Tvseries is built in to XBMC, you just set the content type of a folder and do a scan and set it to library mode and it looks alot like MP TVseries and it also uses thetvdb.com for graphics and info.
