@ ysmp: You can't support fanart for music by default in a MP skin. Fanart for music is a hack, and it will mess up on lots of low-end systems because of it not beeing able to clean up the RAM. Somebody could probably put together a custom xml with fanart for music, but IMO it should not be supplied with the skin (not without loads of warnings at least 
)
As for the installer mattsk; thats a great idea. Very userfriendly! Don't know if your planning to do this, but what would be cool is at the end of the installation, it asks you if you want to create a custom basic home, or if you just want to use the default one (and list the stuff included on it). Then if you select "i want to create my own basichome", it launches your menu generator
Regarding that tho, is there a way you could add some prettynames to that xml list? Have the generator translate mypics.xml to MY PICTURES, and movingpictures.xml to MOVINGPICTURES. It would make things easier on users that are not familiar with how MP skins are built up.

+1 on this. An installer would be absolutely amazing. Whenever I have to reinstall and unzips the Monochrome skin, I always starts sweating, because it looks so complicated. Also, the BasicHome looks great. I kinda like the big black bar. I really love the simplicity of the Monochrome skins Regular Home menu, but it doesn't give that "wow" effect when I turn it on. The Mediastream most certainly does (when I look at screenshots, since I don't have a working skin). To me though, the menu is the important thing, and the FanArt is just added visual eyecandy - it looks great, but I don't want it to take over the entire screen.
I really think that the way it is in your last screenshot is a perfect mix of the simple menu-structure, combined with great looking FanArt. And when we get the menu generator, this will just be even better.
One more thing: I really like the "NowPlaying" box on the Homescreen. How does this look when playing a movie or some TVshow? When showing Widescreen content, will it automatically scale to make the entire box and the frame around the picture fit?

As mentioned I have one more busy week then I have a fair bit of time off so I can ramp up the effort, I don't really want to set a date as then there will be pressure to get something out by that date. The best I can probably say is maybe something out before the end of November.

Take your time. I intend to wait until MP 1.0 is released, then rebuild my HTPC, and install MP 1.0 followed by mediastream!

Although I'd like to have it before MP 1.0, with the speed of the RC-release we probably won't see it this time of Christmas (and perhaps not even next summer), and I'd love to have Mediastream before that. But as stated, rather wait longer for a perfect skin, than get a release now with bugs.
I am just ancious to get it, since I'm "in between" skins right now. Really like the look and feel of titanium, but there are just some things that are not completely right (BasicHome menu, Tvsection). Currently I'm using Monochrome which is a great skin, feature, stability and overview, but I'd just love too have some more FanArt. Mediastream looks to possible be a great mix of the two.

P.S. I think you were thinking MP2 in your post cause MP1 seems very close to release.

I think 1.38 is easier, it's a minor addition, judging by the lack of bugs, 1.39 is still a long way off.
Ideally, the TuningParameters settings would be moved to MPE1, along with all the skins. Then any minor fixes could be updated quickly.
