the videodatabase, radiodatabase, TVSeriesDatabase.
Are those going to be kept with the current SQLite Database or are they going to be ported on the new SQL 2005 engine as well?
These are databases of MP and not of the new tv server.
The new tv server will not use the databases and have no relation with it.
However there are plans to migrate those database as well to SQL 2005

Note that although we recommend SQL 2005 express for the TvServer
its (in theory) possible to use any database (so also mysql)
However this is not tested yet.

Frodo

I know this thread is for questions about the new TV server and as I don't have any questions I should probably not post something useless.

But I just want to let everyone involved in the new TV server know that their work is greatly appreciated!

"Will the server have placeshifting?"
Asked and answered I belive (several times?).

Where? I asked earlier in this thread and got no answer. Placeshifting has only been mentioned in one other thread. If you could point me to the answer that would be great.

you can specify the recroding directory, yes.

but the MediaPortal TV-Server has to run on WindowsXP or 2003.

So, does this mean I can have two or more HTPCS (each with there own tuner cards), both of them configured to record/ playback recorded files to a NAS and still have full functionality of timeshift? THANX!

I think "PlaceShifting" means pausing the channel/recording you're watching on one client, and resuming it on another...

As far as I know, this question isn't answered yet in this thread...

Placeshifting is like what a slingbox does. It allows you to watch your TV from remote locations through the internet.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placeshifting

That way when you are traveling away from your home you would still be able to watch your channels/shows.
