Hi, can I ask a question about how to get MiniDisplay plugin to work with my vfd over here?
I have an Ahanix MCE-302 case, which has a 2x16 lines Samsung VFD, connected to the LPT1 port. I'm running Vista x64 and have run into some trouble to get the right I/O for parallel port, but I've downloaded this InpOut32.dll: http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/download.asp?package=InpOutBinaries and managed to get LCDSmartie to work. In LCDSMartie, I've selected HD44780.dll as plugin.

Now I've copied the InpOut32.dll file to the MediaPortal main folder and tried to setup MiniDisplay, but I can't get it working. (No characters at all). I've selected numerous drivers, including the HD44780 and Samsung serial/parallel driver, but nothing works. Am I overlooking something?
I still haven't figured this one out, can anyone point me in the right direction?
@sherlocks: I've had almost the same Problems. Have you renamed the InpOut32.dll in to DLPortIO.dll before you moved it into Mediaportal?
No, I haven't done anything else than what I've described. What do you mean by "renamed the InpOut32.dll in to DLPortIO.dll"?

You have downloaded the InpOutBinaries.zip. Inside this zip is a file called inpout32.dll its in the folder win32.

Take this file and change the name to DLPortIO.dll.

After that put it into the Mediaportal directory where it replaces the original file.

Test it in the config. Hopefully it works.

I didn't actually 'install' anything, I just copied and renamed the dll file into the MediaPortal main folder.

Please share the dll as we MIGHT ( and I want to stress MIGHT ) include it in MediaPortal.

    Hi Simone,

I 've found the dll through this page:
Inpoutx64.dll for WIN XP 64 bit
    I've included the entire package.

    Cool.

But can you please test a few things for me too?

    1. When you configure the "close on exit" does this work for you? i mean if you close Mediaportal does it clean the Display or is still something written in the Display?
    2. I have some strange signs in the Display sometimes. Most after a resume. It seems that in the past SVN from 10.10.09 its fixed but not here.

    Hi Nero,
@1.: Nope, when I close MediaPortal, it still shows "MediaPortal" and the time.
@2.: I haven't noticed any strange signs or characters in the display.

ok... i just got an Antic Multimedia Station with lcd device (will use Harmony on it). where the HELL do i start? i've followed some online guides via avsforum and got nothing.

iMon works and shows things on the screen, but MediaPortal can't do anything with it. i setup the minidisplay for this device and usb support, contrast all the way up, etc.... but i get nothing. i've updated iMon to v7.64 on win7 with MP 1.1.0 beta.

    *FIXED*

had to manually set it to use VFD instead of AUTO that was choosing LCD for me. on screen display works great now! i'll get the harmony remote on it next i guess!
