and i went away from iMON :D

this week my "new" and next VFD came along ...
    VLsystem M-Blast 202 mini
really "geil" ... that works like charm ...

AND - the Remote is also usable ... WITH mediaportal ...
in the config u just click on MediaPortal and it works -

only problem is - it has not 16 characters in 2 rows - it has 20 in two rows :p
fits not in all enclosers - but i always build enclosers by myself -
so it fits for mine :)

this is it (picture found @ a german distributor called "ich-bin-leise.de")

looks like i have now five different FVD's here in my PC-fab ...
real plus-point is that the VL-System VFD got an AFC (Automatic FAN Control)
    including a heat-sensor ...

I also moved away from Imon completely, and am now using a cheap MCE remote from ebay and loving it! It just works! Ok, so I still need to get the white elephant 7" Touchscreen on the Zalman working for something other than watching Task Manager to see if something has crashed, but the remote was the main thing.

+1 to not buying anything with an Imon product in.

I'm a happy (lucky) iMon user. Before you guys kill me you can count +1 in the not buying list :) I've read so many negative experiences that I wouldn't take the risk.
I went away from iMon and came back, here is my story:

Interesting discussion on the SG forum. Chemelli did a great job there, let's hope SG will finally provide proper APIs for integration with MP. I seriously doubt that I'll be able to use it though, since I have only a SG VFD in my GreenPower case, not the iMon stuff. SG doesn't provide drivers for Win 7, GreenPower doesn't respond at all.

So, any suggestions for alternative hardware? I'm only interested in the display, I use a Harmony remote configured as MCE remote, with a USB MCE IR receiver. The case doesn't have a 5.25" slot, so I can't buy hardware like the VLsystem M-Blast 202 mini that polarie suggests, or I have to replace the whole case. I'm not looking for a 7" touchscreen either, the whole idea is that the VFD provides just enough information so I can save power by leaving the tv off.

Are there any external USB displays that are compatible with MP? What cases are out there with a VFD not manufactured by SG?

well alternat to the SG VFD could be a Antec Veris -
that is also a 2 rows / 16 signs VFD which should fit
into the case without any "case-metal-work"...

and it is really easy to turn out the FVD from its 5.25" frame
    - 4 screws - and its free :)

it is an iMon VFD ;) - so it should run with Win7
( i also have SG VFD without iMon ... runs not very well with MePo / WInXP )

    regards

    @ chemelli

just got a little problem with my first VFD -
since i update to 1.1.0 - MediaPortal close so fast -
that the reload of the iMON driver couldn't be done -

    so i don't see time&date in off-mode,
only the message: MediaPortal not active

any idea how i can bring in a short delay (1 or 2 sec) befor shutdown?

What I've read on SG's forum is really great. I'm excited as a child ;). Hope, there will really be an happy end :)

for sure :) ... which logs ? (öhm and where do i find them ;) ...)

    put 4 logs "on" ... error.log - config.log
more needed - just say it - will bring them later - my wife is looking TV
so ..*g* it was not possible to post more than those four ;-)
