Just installed 1.0.3 on the newest public svn of MediaPortal.
Had 1.0.2 installed with the same issue.
I have large collection on my network server and when I start playing a video og tv series Moving Pictures seems to scan all my sources before playing the file. This takes 5 - 10 minutes. Can I prevent this ?

Moving Pictures does not do any scanning before starting playback, it simply passes the path of the video file to MediaPortal. MediaPortal takes over so any delays on start of playback are going to be related to your upgrade to the latest MediaPortal SVN. For what it's worth the last MediaPortal SVN is a bit buggy regarding texture and resource management so it may not be the best to skip over that release. No disrespect to the MediaPortal team, they are a talented bunch of folks, it's just the nature of releasing unvetted SVN code like this I think. Sometimes bugs crop up. Same thing with the Moving Pictures Betas.

No it doesn't look like XFace supports Moving Pictures 1.0. It is up to the skin designer to implement support for new versions of Moving Pictures and it seems that XFace hasn't been updated yet for Moving Pictures 1.0.

Not sure if this will help, but...

If your collection is mkv and you are using haali splitter it might be the splitter that is trying to automatically link all your files. There is a setting in haali config to turn this option off.

Not sure if this will help, but...

If your collection is mkv and you are using haali splitter it might be the splitter that is trying to automatically link all your files. There is a setting in haali config to turn this option off.

If I disable Moving Pictures in my Plugins then the TV Series and My Videos work perfectly. That means that this is not MediaPortal issue. I monitor my network traffic and even if I start an .avi file on my local drive Moving Pictures starts to scan my network sources. If I can provide more details then I would be pleased to deliver anything needed.

Changed Advanced Settings "Automatically Aquire MediaInfo Details From Movies" to False and my problem went away.



When Issue 684 (Issue 684 - moving-pictures - For large collections, categories are slow when loading and navigating in GUI - Project Hosting on Google Code Type Status Priority Stars Milestone Owner Summary) will be fixed I will be very happy.

I had the same problem and it was caused by a bad mkv file. Unfortunately, I have deleted the file and cannot create the logs....
