This is what I get when I right-click and choose subtitle.

No idea what the bottom ones are. All the ones on the disc are correctly

listed.

Loks like "James Bond - The Living Daylights" :D

Theoretically there should be an option "None"...

Good spot. That actor used to live down my road :D

I can inform you that "None" is not one of the unknown ones

Is it still the right thread? I thought the subtitle issue is discussed in the other thread, or am I misunderstood something?
I was just about to make the same comment. It turns out that the GUI concept is based on a disc being played automatically (rather than having a separate button). I will move all postings into the other thread.

I did start a bug thread regarding subtitles which was related to TV.

I have found I can pause DVDs by clicking on the back button top left which will give me basic start/stop and volume controls

This is getting a little bit confusing.

Although I can understand where you are coming from, subtitles is not the same as closed captions (CC). So you refer to CC with British television? Could you post screenshots how you switch it on (and then try to switch it off again)?

I did start up a bug thread regarding not being able to turn TV subtitles off.

I then created a Feature Request thread about DVD GUI options and the discussion ended up talking about a similar subtitle bug which I hadn't originally noticed until you mentioned about not having subtitle options in the context menu for DVD playback.

Anyway regarding TV, with both Closed Captions and Subtitles set to "Off by default", I tune to a channel and click on the icon to the left of the volume controls and the dialog opens.

If I choose "eng" the subtitles appear.

To try to turn them off I do the same and the box appears with the dot next to "eng" as I would expect. When I click on "No subtitles" the box just closes and the subtitles stay on.

If I go into the Player Settings, the Closed Captions are still defaulted to off, but the Subtitles are defaulted to on.

Well, there is no mentioning of "TV" anywhere ;)

Thank you for the screen shot, now it is clear what we are talking about. This is hard for us to test as we don't have closed caption on German TV. Subtitles work via overlay teletext only.

@ge2301 , can you please take a look at the previous posting, which describes the issue? Maybe the "no subtitles" is not linked to any function? Or has it been fixed in the meantime?

I'm in the UK. They're called subtitles here too. As far as I know they're overlay text too.
