Tested on windows 7, it would not take the ip set under network adress in devicemanager. Had to go into network connections and set it there.
If not done there it showed a 169.-address

That's strange because I'm using 2 Win7 installs 32 and 64 and both took the 192.168.2.1, did you reboot, also what is the default ip address of your network, would of thought it was in the range of 192.168.0.1 or 1.1, giving any user .2 .3 etc.

wlan on 192.168.1.x
loopback on 192.168.2.x

Will see if anyone else has the problem, if so will update tutorial adding the extra info, I'm baffled because even my daughters XP pro SP3 works with only the network property box filled in

Hmm, tried it again on a fresh windows 7 x32 install.

Added loopback, set the network adress, rebooted, ran ipconfig:

If i check the device manager -> loopback -> Advanced
it says Network adress: 192.168.2.1

Hope so, wonder if running all accounts as full admin does make the difference on the primary settings, thats why other bits normally not needed for me.
