Are you running the installer with admin privileges?
What happens if you attempt to manually start the MySQL database service?

Yes. Ran installer with admin privileges.

It doesn't appear to completely install MySQL. So I get the following message:

Windows could not start the MySQL service on Local Computer.
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

So... I uninstalled everything MP. Uninstalled MySQL, and it's folders. Ran "sc delete MySQL" form admin cmd prompt...

After that I'm able to install MP 1.5 no problem. MySQL 5.1 installs no problem.

So how to upgrade to MP 1.6 with MySQL 5.6? I can probably upgrade to MP 1.6 if I maintain MySQL 5.1. Do I want to do that?

In short: unless you've experienced TV Server database crashes in the past, MySQL 5.1 is probably fine. Personal choice. :)

Hi, I didn't have SQL problems but just wanted to agree that on my Win7 system, a clean install of 1.36 TV server x86 does not work since it won't start the TV server configuration. Installing 1.33 first and upgrading to1.36 fixed the problem. Eggert

4.5 is really old. I'm not sure 4.5.5 even is a version that actually existed. You should be able to install .NET Framework 4.8.0 on Windows 7 SP1

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...

I can confirm that. After reinstalling MP1.31(x86) I mistakenly installed the x64 version MpUrlSourcesplitter. Then I got the error. After uninstalling MpUrlSourcesplitter(x64) I installed the MpUrlSourcesplitter(x86). But the error message still comes.
