Ok, after much experimenting I have found the following:

With klite codec pack installed with default settings, streaming of .mov files will not work. However, if when installing klite codec pack you uncheck the .mov splitter (Gabest), .mp4 splitter and anything referencing Haali and then install the stand alone Haali media splitter this works fine for .mov streaming (graphedit and MP). However, I can then no longer play local .mov files :0(

If I install the .mov splitter in klite codec pack then this allows me to play local .mov files but stops the .mov streaming functionality.

Anyone got any ideas how you enable local .mov playback without the .mov splitter?

I have QT alternative installed.

Can you try to install FFDshow and AC3 standalone installers a see if this work?I don't even have QT alternative installed but i can play .mov files with WMP too.And i think WPM is using FFDshow...can u please post what Graphedit is using to render the file?

Hi,

Here is my graph with FFDShow/AC3filter/Haali media splitter installed. I had uninstalled qt alternative, haali splitter and klite codec pack to try this. I had to reinstall haali splitter for anything to work at all.

I can play streaming .mov files with this setup, only after I disabled PCM support in the ac3filter. If I didn't do that it would put an AC3filter as well as the FFDshow audio decoder in the attached graph and I got an error saying graphedit "could not change state" or something like that. Once PCM support in the ac3filter was disabled it didnt include the ac3filter in the graph and the .mov stream worked.

However, I have also included 2 graphs from .mov local files. One with working audio, the other without working audio. The file definitely has audio as with my original codecs installed (klite codec pack) the audio plays fine.

So I now have some .mov files that play fine (scooter-im raving graph), some that will not play audio (alicedeejay graph) and one that will not play at all (didnt include graph as it would not draw it). All these do play fine with klite codec pack installed. Its very strange as i guess it means .mov files have different standards and codec requirements?

With QT alternative installed these will all play in Media Player Classic and irfanview. Graphedit has same issues has above, which means MediaPortal will have same issues as graphedit for playing local .mov files.

.mov is just a container that can contain different formats. Most Apple trailers have AVC video and AAC audio.
You'll have to look at the splitter output to check the video and audio format of the files that are not working correctly.
Although i do not see an audio out pin on the splitter with Alice Deejay. Maybe you are missing some codecs now that you uninstaled K-Lite..

on a side note:
i really think we should start a seperate thread to discuss these codec specific mysteries
Let's keep this thread about the My Trailers plugins (what features we're missing etc..)
I will be finishing the new "core" for the plugin soon and after that it's just about adding trailer sources and improving the gui.

sleepycol maybe you should try using FFDshow video decoder instead MPC(assign lower merit to MPC and higher merit to FFDshow;for FFDshow use his own configuration tool,and be sure x264 decoding is enabled)because now i'm using this combo on both XP and Vista systems and i have no more issues playing .mov files(local and streaming).

I agree with you armandp,if we want to keep this thread clean we have to start a new thread about playback issues with Movie Trailers and let this one focus on plugin improvements.Myself had problems with playback and the only way around was making a clean install of the OS(i know this take a lot of time but believe me that took me more time to find a solution to this problem changing merits and stuff...if the windows registry is messed up you can install and uninstall filters a 1000 time,it just won't work)and manual installing of the needed filters and codecs.

Now that everything works like a charm, let's enumerate some feature requests (if possible).

1) higher resolution covers. (Maybe it's possible to download them from impawards)
2) a logo icon (mentioned before I think..)
3) some people who want to develop the layout for popular skins (aeon wide, monochrome, xface, spinsafe, purevision)
4) A download/streaming bar (especially for streaming 1080p)

Good points Roopert,a layout like the old My Trailers plugin isn't bad i think but with high resolution covers.I'm sure Media Portal community skiners will support this plugin when armandp&LRFalk01 work will be done.

The graph i posted is the streaming graph...However i'm still doing some tests to find wich are the perfect filters for all of us.If u are using only:CoreAVC 1.70(please install haali media splitter that come with this filter)+FFDshow(01/08/2008 version)+Ac3 filter 1.51a you should be able to play .mov files local and streaming.Please uninstall any other codecs and filter and do a registry clean too.
