    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a dual HDTV-S PCI or PCIe tuner-card which is still supported by the manufacturer.

What do you recommended due to your experience ?

    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Ralph

AW: need dual HDTV-S PCI or PCIe tuner-card

    Hello.
    Tevii S480.
I'm using Tevii DVB-S2 cards a long time. They work like a charm in MediaPortal....

    Ralph,

If preview works then the card is most likely fine. :)

Have you plugged in the power connector?
Have you set your TV codec preferences? (info)
Are you using pause or stop mode? (info - when card enters idle state do the following...)

If you want further help then you *need* to post logs (instructions). We can't always guess the cause of problems correctly - it is a waste of more of your time and some of ours when you don't post logs. ;)

    Hi mm,

Have you plugged in the power connector?
No. I'll check in the evening. (currently at work ;))
Seems very unusual to me-I'll see if I have the right power cord for this...

Have you set your TV codec preferences?
the H.264 section is empty-all others preset-do not know what to choose here and why. Actually there is only one item in the selection box. Shouldn't preset settings do the job ?
What can I do here to make it work ? Is something missing ? My old Pinnacle PCTV Dual Sat Pro works right away. I went for the TEVii to enjoy HDTV...

Are you using pause or stop mode?
Not that I know-I'll check. I'm using preset parameters right now.

    Tonight I'll send log data.

    Thanks so far.
    Ralph:D

It's a standard floppy drive connector. Every PSU should still have at least one of those (or maybe simply an adapter cable). Nothing unusual about it ;)

You need a H.264 decoder in order to watch HD channels. Generally, you could try the SAF codec pack for instance and configure MediaPortal as described in the first post.

This is *very* important. Some people have reported having very bad problems when they didn't connect the power connection.

Shouldn't preset settings do the job ?
Sometimes... but in my opinion these settings should *always* be checked. As Spooky says, you will need an h.264 codec for HDTV. SAF is probably the easiest...

Do the other things first and see if they resolve the problem. This is less likely to be necessary.

    Tonight I'll send log data.
    Please do. :)

    Hi guys,

    1. I attached the power cord to the TEVii s480==> no change
    2. I installed ffd show and choose the codecs==> no change
I would try SAF6 but not sure wht to do (seems to be czek language..??)
    3. Stop mode is not set (impossible in version 113)
    5. And now here are my logs:

Thanks for your help. Appreciate it.

If the files are accessible on your network, which I guess they must be if PowerDVD can play them then you should be able to find them in MP2. See here for further info. Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...

Yes, that’s planned. The new installer (completely reworked with new GUI) is basically ready, but the alternative TV plugins are not fully finalized. After that you’ll be able to select a TV engine within the installer :)
