As TVs change so much I tend to just read reviews a alot. I have a Samsung M87 and am very happy with it - all sorts of inputs, great black levels, looks good, does 1:1 pixel mapping (for HTPC of course).

Also heard tha the new Pannys are good.

    LCD. Definately not Plasma.

The Contrast ratios are good enough now that Plasmas are not needed. Ive never realy read anything good about Plasma's either!

I've put in a about half a dozen 46-50" panels in the last six months, here's a quick summary. Panasonic TH-50PZ70B plasma, deep colours, good motion, no need for an additional heater in the room! Sony Bravia KDL 46 X 3500 LCD, the most impressive LCD I've done yet, but ugly and too dear. Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5080D plasma, the best panel I have ever seen, it's not even close, it's stunning, and the new PDP-LX5090 should be even better, but not cheap. I've also had a Sharp 46" LCD, but we won't mention that!

I haven't put the new Samsung LCDs (the LE46A656 and LE52A656) in for anyone yet, but based on the demo I had, they are really nice. A lot of people won't want them due to red edging on the case though.

One thing that you should keep eye on is to make sure that 24p mode(s) are supported natively (no 3:2 pulldown or some other nasty tricks).

Well I have a 46" Sony Bravia and it is awesome. I'm no expert on tv's but I did some research on this one and then when I saw it playing a blueray animation cartoon in JB HIFI I thought "I have to have that"...

I will admit though, it's a bit big for 46" due to the speakers on the side and the glass trim around the edge, but theres a nice glowie SONY on the bottom that, well, is just a gimmic. The other thing, as TritonT said, it is on the pricey side, but the picture quality is really stunning. 50" versions are now available for just a little more than I paid for the 46" but i'mm struggling to fit this one in a lounge.

Thanks for all the info. I decided on the 46" Samsung Series 6 (LN46A650). Really like it so far and I actually like the red touch of color.:):D

Your observation is correct mate. Last time this happened the fires of hell invaded all shopping centers... this time I seem to be the only one in need - which is quite uncomfortable at best. TV Server plugins are listed on this page, and "EPG Cleaner" can be downloaded from this page. Note: I don't know what bitness the plugin has. It might be 32-bit, or it might be "any cpu". The plugin is not listed by the "MP Extensions" tool, so I don't know whether it has been tested with the most-recent MP releases. -- from...

I currently have two Quatros running, one connect, one duo using OTA antennae, mostly UHF fringe area, mostly cat5 local network. Hauppauge card retired long ago. I have also retired very early SD units, the Quatros seem to work much better than the older units. Go to SD's support website and download and install the windows...

Sorry, I didn't get email notifications on these latest replies. I just came here to report I solved the problem after adjusting power settings for "Intel Graphics". I set it to Maximum Performance. I tried many other things so it could be a combination of them, but this was the last thing I did and I haven't had the problem return...
