I went to HTPC Italia V.2 and didn’t find that EPGDownloader. I did see a grabber-it. Is that what you meant?

Register and go in the downlaod section. What you need is EpgDownloader.exe, trust me

The new version of EpgDownload requires that you sign up to the forum and post 10 "real" messages before you can use it. Too bad.
I wonder what the mods of that forum would say if their MediaPortal would stop working until they post 10 messages on THIS forum...
I hope the XMLTV for Italy will be fixed soon!

BTW...

HTPCItalia EPGDownloader has some usefull features:

- Download requires only few seconds
- You can choiche the "Bouquet" (Sky Cinema, Sky Intrattenimento, Mediaset Premium, ecc...) you're interested in
- You don't need to associate the channels in "XMLTV Plugin" because the channel name is automatically fixed

We think that 10 "real" posts are a small "price" to pay for that..
Our goal is just involve people to use the forum and help other people.
But, obviously, you can do what you want...

We think that 10 "real" posts are a small "price" to pay for that..
Our goal is just involve people to use the forum and help other people.

Don't get me wrong. I understand that behind your software there's a lot of work that takes a lot of time.

If you're doing this to avoid users with 0 posts, forcing your users to write 10 posts to get EpgDownloader will surely not solve the issue.

It will just delay your problem until the potential 0 post users reach the 10 posts limit.
Then you will find yourself with a MySQL table filled with dead users with 10 posts you can't distinguish for real users with 10 posts.
Then what? You raise the number of minimum required posts? That would be just calling zero posters with a different name!

I see that there's a thread on your forum in wich you ask for suggestions on how to manage the download of the EpgDownloader, but I see that the mods are either ignoring or harassing or banning whoever objects their already-taken decision or suggest a new solution. So what's the point on asking for suggestions? Maybe that's the reason why people don't post on your forum!

You want your work to be taken seriously? Assume your responsabilites and stop pretending: start accepting donations, at least as an alternative to posts count. It will give you credibility. People will surely become more demanding, but that is what will make them posting spontaneously on your forum.

These are just my 2 cents...

But, obviously, you can do what you want...

That thread was open before we decide the policy. Yes it should be closed, but we prefer to leave it open in case someone post something usefull (maybe was better to close it... )

Donations... From people that consider making 10 posts is a too much effort...
Problably we will make the download free (after registration of course), but i'm sure we will have a lot of user with 0 post istead that a lot of user with 10 posts...
Is really so absurd to ask for a so small price compared to a service and a daily effort?

Our hope is that users, after 10 posts, start feeling part of the community. But it's just a utopian hope, i see...
The majority of people just want to grab and go... I think it is not a fair attitude, but we must accept it...

In part I agree with you. But in a technical forum (like htpcitalia) I think it's more useful to post only if you WANT TO SAY something (and help someone as you say), while having to post "nonsense" or "not real" just to reach the 10 posts I think is unnecessary and harmful for the other users of the forum. You'll be part of the community if you feel fine with it.
