Excellent! This one is working. Thanks for all your help. This was the missing piece I needed for my HTPC to become the source of all my media.

Yeah I only go about as far as XML and AutoHotKey :D

I do get a lot of it... Familiar with Wildcards.. I'm from the days of the Amiga and good old DOS so I've done a bit of scripting here or thare... Well that's brilliant. It's not quite AND OR and NOT but more than enough to keep me happy.. Thanks hwahrmann...

    Hi

    I downloaded OneButtonMusic.MPE1
How do i install it into MP 1.0 Final?
I've only ever done .dll files.

I don't want to upgrade to MP1.0.1/1.0.2 because it buggers up my 1080i TV

    Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind figured it out.
Click Start -> My programs -> Team Mediaportal -> Mediaportal -> Mediaportal plugin-skins installer
    Then choose the MPI file

For me, version 1.5 also freezes MP as soon as selected (by pressing play). No way to unfreeze but a reboot. Same issue I had with the previous versions.

This is REALLY a nice plugin, thank you hwahrmann and it's good that you get bored with you job sometimes. ;)

I have one minor issue: I have stored my playlists on the server in a separate folder so I can use them as well on my desktop.
Apparently, this plugin goes to the default 'My Playlists' folder of the current logged in user (in My Documents).
I have been searching (web, registry, folder properties) to modify the location for this folder but this one seems to be just a regular folder for which you cannot change it's location in windows.
After copying a few playlists from my network drive to this local folder, the plugin works.

Is there a way to get the plugin to use the networkfolder? (it's a mapped drive)

    TIA

    Peter

ps: for the first time, I used the mpi - the enclosed readme file handles the manual way.
Is it by design that you have to re-open the MP configuration applet for the plugin to appear? I thought something went wrong for not finding the plugin.

There is a program in that creates virtual files mapped to a directory. Sorry I don't know the name. It is referenced to in in the my pictures subforum of mediaportal forum. Basically you can "fool" windows into thinking the files in your network drive are also located in the default playlist directory.

ie if i was browsing your default playlist directory and someone adding a new file on your networked directory that file would also appear in that directory. The file only has one physical location and one version but it appears in two locations.

the other option is to create a batch file that on startup copies all the files from the network drive to the playlists folder

    Suggestion / Feature Request:

It's unclear that when you use the Numeric Buttons _Remote Button #: to assign a playlist that you have to enter .m3u at the end of the playlist name. A lot of users might not even realise the file extension used for playlists as windows explorer by default hides known file extensions. A better option would be selecting the playlist option launches a file browser box or alternatively the window automatically appends .m3u to the playlist name if the user doesn't give an extension.

    Bug Report:

Assigning a Numeric Button: Remote Button # to [Playlist]
and selecting Jump on play: [Now Playing]

Results in the first track being played being rated as # stars, overwriting any rating that might already be set.

Ok, disregard my question about the playlist issue; somehow my playlist setting in the MP configuration applet was not right - it was pointing to the the default/local folder which of course explains the behavior of the plugin.
