[patch] Choose the screen in which MP will start (fullscreen or window) (5 Viewers)

hi,i got a prblem
this plugin is awesome!! but the prob is:
it starts on the 2nd screen MP,fullscreen works FINE.
but once i just do something on my primary screen and just switch to an Application or whatever, Mp minimizes on the second screen
any idea? thanks in advance

edit: ok a workaround is enbabling "always on top"..
btw another question (i still dont have my remote yet)
since the app is minimized then..will the remote work? i mean right now when i do smth else and the MPv isnt maximized/active ofcourse nothing will happen if i press enter or -> <- etc buttons on my keyboard.
will it react to my remote then anyway?
if not that would be bad :x

edit: the always on top thing isnt realy good..interferes really too much in my running Apps,cant maximize really well, always minimizing other programs etc :/ any other way?

maybe it could be possible to run and emulated OS with VMWARE on the second monitor! dunno if it works tho ..

Hi there,

I used the 0.2.3.0 RC1 for the use of the second screen option which starts up fine and works wonderfully if you don't use your other screen and get the focus off MP. In my case the program simply crashes with Vista announcing it having a problem with the application and closing it down.

So, a very good start to solving the 2nd screen issue but not quite there yet (at least not with my setup). Am I the only one with this problem?

Depends on the remote and the way it is set-up (mapping). Mine (Medion X10) works if something else has focus (I do not need this, but well).

*EDIT* had another think, it should always be possible. But before buying your remote, ask on the forum if someone can verify this for the model you are buying.

really. it's not worth the trouble.
i'm thinking about the MS MCE remote or one of the logitech remotes.
well if it works..nice
still it interferes too much if its on top..can't work on the #1 monitor properly.
seems i will need a 2nd pc (best solution, but dont have the money for).. or i test the emulation thing.

-this patch is partialy in SVN and the startup parameters /fullscreen /screen=1 do work. the config option will be added when current open issues have been resolved.

andycrow, : The easyapps plugin gives an (unsupported version error)
-Does the plugin work with MP-RC1 ? and with latest SVN ? if not then you should probebly report it to the person who made that plugin.

-When you start MP in fullscreen and do not make it windowed temporarely it wont minimize when you click on the primary screen.. That issue is being worked on.
-any common apps that you cant maximize that i could test it with ? when i have firefox maximized on my primary screen MP starts just fine.. als i can make firefox windowed an maximize it again and MP just keeps running fullscreen..
-remote .. dont realy know.. there are a few plugins that should be able to make MP recieve remote control signals even when not focused.. havent used them tho.

Excellent work.. Using the

Running AIW9000,w2ksp4, CAT 6.11,Extended desktop.

Main display DVI-D LCD 1280x768, 2nd display 1024x768 projector D-SUB.

SVN 15497 for MP and TVServer Client.

At the moment watching MP Tv on the PJ and playing a DX game MYST URU on the LCD(windowed mode).

MP 10%cpu usage.Dual AMD MP 2400

Further testing with other ATI cards (9800 AIW, 9500, x1950) and CATS after 7.1 show a problem with scaling in extended desktop where the GUI is larger than the designated display thus loosing dx acceleration and VMR9; plus it is now software rendered with high cpu usage.

This problem exists on either screen even without the 'fullscreen /screen=1' and is present with both blue two and blue two wide.

From looking through the logs I can't see the problem within MP so it looks like a driver bug.

CATS 6.1 work fine though but unforunatly don't have the inf for more recent cards above x850 series.

i have this very same problem under vista. i solved it by disabling VRM9 exclusive mode and it works like a charm. i got the hauppauge remote and it can control MP w/o having focus.

try turning off vrm9 to see if it solves your problem.

anyways, using this version of MP messes up the EPG for me, it gives me a blank epg screen, with the word "Label Missing". using other version of mp solves this problem but it doesn't have teh dual screen support. any ideas?
