Please Help: New HTPC set up (1 Viewer)

I'm trying to set up a new HTPC with a NAS attached to the same network. Which option should I install? I tried setting up my pc as server and client because i can't seem to install it to my NAS.

Please help.

MediaPortal can only be installed in/on Microsoft's Windows operating system. That's probably the reason you can't install it on your NAS.

That entirely depends on what you want to do.

That's the most common choice. It's probably the right choice for you.

thanks for the quick reply, i am having a hard time with my media source (NAS). I remember last time I used mediaportal 1, there is an option where you can import all movies to the system.

any help please? im using media portal 2.

Hi Omar1925,

could you please explain with what exactly do you have problems? If your shares on NAS are password protected, then you have to enter your credentials in MP2.

does mp2 have an option to manually add movies fro the source file like the prior mp? i can now see my movies but it displays the file names instead of the titles. I can't find the option to refresh or add movies which are missing.

i just tried installing MP 1.13final....why is it that both media portal and media portal configuration icons led me to the config window? I also tried to click the file itself, same result

Because you have to create/save your configuration before you can use MediaPortal.
