Maybe the good people at OpenELEC will build a distro for MP2.
This won't happen as MP2 is "Windows Only" and the Raspberry Pi is not strong enough to run MP2. But there is an alternative raising, Lattepanda. Similar size to Raspberry Pi it is much stronger, has 32/64 GB system drive and 2/4 GB RAM and comes with a full Windows 10 licence included. The Lattepanda definitely is strong enough to run MP2 and it is not too expensive. A real alternative to a Raspberry Pi...

Oh I forgot to ask the other fella how his banana OMV was running. Do you have a SATA splitter or are you running a lot of USB drives? How about the awesome plugins for OMV? Are you running any?

BTW.....for a real slim system I once had some USB drives plugged into my Wifi Router and XBMC connected to them. The wattage of the Wifi and Raspberry running 24/7 was really cheap I think the whole deal ran like 20 watts idle and 30 watts running.

    Hi.
Do you have a SATA splitter or are you running a lot of USB drives?
I only have one SATA Drive connected to the Banana Pi. This is enough to store all my music. I've used it for downloading too, but the JDownloader Plugin isn't reliable any more. It only runs for a day or two before it starts to save corrupted files only. To get it working again you need to uninstall the plugin and re- install it. And on this you also need to do the whole configuration again. Nothing I want to do every other day... My 20.000++ series episodes are stored in my main HTPC in the Living room. It is build inside a drawer so there is lot of space and it's invisible. Here the MP2 server and the TV tuners are working too. This is powered by an i5 (because it did a lot of other things like transcoding and editing videos, working with Photoshop or CorelDraw and similar things) and for this it is going into standby if not needed. And I have another NAS that holds my movies. This is in standby most of the time...

Trying to find a good use for a Banana Pi is hard to do. Shame cuz it has a built in battery charger so it seems like it would be a good 24/7 device.

I'm really impressed with what MP2 says it will do. I think I'll wait for a little more development and cross my fingers for a Linux distro. Or at least a port. It's hard to get completely away from windows. But it's a worthy goal.

    Hi.
It simply is impossible to "port" MP (no matter if MP1 or MP2) to other OS than Windows. MP is using a lot of technologies that are only available on .NET but not on Mono (the Linux and MacOS counterpart of .NET). So a "port" has to be a completely new app, written from scratch. Our team isn't big enough to handle such an extra workload. If you want MP2 on Linux, you need to write it by yourself.
In some time there will be no need for at least an extra MP2 Client on other OS as then every modern browser can be used as an MP2 client. But this will take some time before it's working also the development has started already...

    Hi all
Sorry to be a pain but this thread is really running on the edge of not being MP related, although it's an interesting read...
@Lehmden and @kiwijunglist have done a great job of bringing it back though!!

MP is Windows only, which rules out the Pi as a platform if you want to run MP on it.

Please keep the questions to MP related, not XBMC or Raspberry Pi please...

I have also retired very early SD units, the Quatros seem to work much better than the older units. Go to SD's support website and download and install the windows...
