"Re-initialize service on wake-up" has been broken for a long time and haven't seen any fix for that. The whole Powerscheduler is a mess, that's why we have now MPStandbyHandler..

Why don't you use MPStandbyHandler as I described? Does it solve your problem?
The server will resume for your scheduled recordings although you let stop the service with the StandbyHandler.

was first following ronilse advice with new installation. was hopeing that this would solve the problem. but it dosn t;(
now i play with the options of mpstandbyhandler beta7, without execess.
there seem to be a service that must installed first.
    then a gui for configuration.
hope i get it working with this.
    thx for your help

In my setup I seem to have/had the problem that after a normal installation, tvserver.exe isnt started automatically. So after each reboot, its just not there anymore. So when I start mediaportal I have to wait 1 minute or so before it starts fully and skips the tvservice thingy... I had to manually set tvservice to start automatically in administrative tools. After doing so, I have never experienced this problem anymore during the startup of mediaportal.

It could be that after hybernation the TVService isnt loaded anymore. This is why I think the issue above could be causing you problems.

Maybe you can check to make sure it isnt casued by something silly like this. I dont know if this could even explain your problem, but I think it cant hurt to try/check.

To manually enable TvService.exe in XP go to:
    -Start
    -Configuration panel
    -Administrative Tools
    -Component Services
    -Services (Local)
    > in the list, double click: TVService
(general tab) Startup Type: set to Automatic
(Recovery tab) : First Faliure: Restart the service (this might not even be needed.)

For Vista I have no clue how to do this. It would probably not be extremely different.

    Hope this helps..

    Hi edterbak,
    thx for your answer.
it seems that i solved the hibernation issue now with mpstandbyhandler.
i set in the options to stop tverservice if it goes in hibernation and to start tvservice if it resumes from hibernation.
so far this seem to work, but i have to make some more tests.
maybe your viewing that tvservice isn t startet after resume from hibernation, can also be right.
i will check it as soon i find the time.

    greetings

    Standby impossible when watching TV

    Hi,

RC3 is looking and behaving much better than it's predecesors, however I'm not able to put the in standby anymore while watching a tV channel.
Is there a configuration option for this?

    :D

    the truth about rc3:

    - powersheduler bug that propaply caused the resume problem from hibernation/standby: 0001437: Network RTSP failure after return from stanby/hibernation. - MediaPortal Bugtracker

    - still not fixed i call it grab-epg-while-ideling bug. live tv isn t working after it is not used for some time.
this is still not fixed for so many mediaportal versions.

so for me nothing is better with rc3. the oposite is the case! in rc2 at least resume from hibernation/standby was working correctly.

it don t has to be that further release candidate lacks of basic features and is therefore worser then a former release candidate. i expect from a new rls-candidate,better working bug-fixing and not that i make a step backward.
    my personal viewpoint.

wow, talking about a swift reply

Actually, resume is something to worry about later. I'm not able to get the system in standby when MP is on a TV channel. It's ok when on the main menu though. I'm sure this was not a problem on RC2.

    Chreers.

Just my thoughts, since I have also seen the "not able to start tv after resume from S3" issue.
This, to me, is a non-negotiable show-stopper and because of it I unfortunately had to go back to RC2, which I think is a shame because RC3 is a big improvement over RC2 in many other areas. The thing though that worries me most is that this issue is not even on the roadmap for either the 1.0.0.0 or 1.0.0.1 release.
Also, in spite of all the amazing work that has gone into MP so far, I think that it is plain bad that this issue was allowed into RC3. And it hardly came as a surprise since it was being discussed on the release thread for one of the pre-RC3 weekly SVN builds.

So, back to RC2 until this is fixed... :-(

Does anyone else have problem with long (several hours) pauses of TV broadcasts? If I pause and forget, I can still resume TV the next day, but if I try to change channel or stop, MP freezes. When I tested MP 2.5 some months ago using TVE3.5, I found that "scan for channels" failed to find any channels when I selected a DVB-T2 tuner (a TBS 6284) :(, but succeeded when I used a DVB-T tuner (a Pinnacle 2000i) :). Obviously the Pinnacle found only those channels broadcast in DVB-T MUXes (in the UK we have both DVB-T MUXes and...
