Can't understand your problems. Ok is was a little bit disappointed too, but if RC3 has so many benefits as you say, then is the MPStandbyHandler with a few kilobyte a very good solution without more work as 2min.
My opinion :)

I just went over all posts in the thread for MPStandbyHandler and will try it out with RC3 next time I get the time to do the re-install.
Will report on how well that works when I get it done, but that may not be until after the weekend.

There are quite a few of us that need the reinit tuner and the delay detecting TV cards enabled in TVServer config, for standby to work correctly.
As this is broken atm, josch.hh's MPStandbyHandler is the solution, not ideal having to install a extra service, but it WORKS, even for TV Cards that just refused to work in all previous versions of MP (hardware related!!).

This has been discussed by the team prior to this, about being able to shutdown\restart TVServer after resume, but it would require an outside apllication to do this, josch.hh has just implemented it (PVRScheduler did exactly the same thing, but donationware), would be nice if it was integrated into the MP install, whether this would happen, who knows.

And for the people who say "not another service running" it uses so little resources, who really cares as long as Standby works correctly :)

    Ray,

Cool to get that info, i.e. that it was a conscious decision from the team to release RC3 with the standby issue still in it, based on technical reasons. At least that means it did not slip through the cracks in testing, which I find very reassuring :)
So I am definitely going to try josch.hh's solution, but that will have to wait until the weekend.

Remember for a lot of people standby works fine, its down to the TVCard drivers and how it behaves with Windows\powerscheduler, a lot of cards will work fine without reinit tuners enabled, so the amount of people affected by this are in the minority, but enough to be heard complaining :) myself included.

hm, wich benefits should this are?
what exactly should be better then in rc3?
then only thing that i see, is that, i need a additional tool, that resume from standby/hibernation is working now.
rc2 was working fine without such a tool.
other differences, i don t have notíced yet.

well, it seems to work with mpstandbyhandler. but like i said, you need a additional tool for a buggy powermangement implenentation. you have to compensate bugs, with aditional tools.
i think thats can t be a solution at all.
atm, it is working, otherwise, i had to switch back to rc2.
i can only hope, that these problems are solved in the next rls-candidate.

well, i use a skystar2 from technisat. this card is under supportet tv-cards with the status working.
if resume from hibernation is not working with rc3, then this is something that attract in a bad way.
and it seems that many people with other cards have, that problem too.

    Hello!

Having the same std-by trouble with an Terratec Cinergy 1200-S and RC3.

I now settled for the external tool and RC3, since in RC2 the MediaPortal Main Application got stuck on loading it's plugins frequently. Additionally, I happen to like the new Blue3 skin. Even my wife noticed it was nicer!

Certainly, I would prefer the bug to be fixed in the final version V1.0. You can only wish - and not demand - if you are not an active member of the programming team :)

Now I have a last problem, not directly related to standby, the virus scanner update produces a nag-screen that desturbes Mediaportal every now and then. Hmm. I better open a different thread for this....

    Greetings,
    SuAlfons

    Hi,

Actually, resume is something to worry about later. I'm not able to get the system in standby when MP is on a TV channel. It's ok when on the main menu though. I'm sure this was not a problem on RC2.

    Chreers.

your problems seem to occur becouse of a wrong configuartion. i don t have the links in my mind. plse search the site. correct configuartion of powersheduler is explained somewhere.

    Hi Parkuhr,

    Thanks for your reply.
Do you means I have to configure powerscheduler to have stand-by working? I'm sure I never used it before.

I'll have a look at it.

When I tested MP 2.5 some months ago using TVE3.5, I found that "scan for channels" failed to find any channels when I selected a DVB-T2 tuner (a TBS 6284) :(, but succeeded when I used a DVB-T tuner (a Pinnacle 2000i) :). Obviously the Pinnacle found only those channels broadcast in DVB-T MUXes (in the UK we have both DVB-T MUXes and...
