Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

VLC is really good at playing corrupt video files / incomplete video files.

Try opening the file in handbrake (freeware) and then convert the file to a different format, you can use one of the handbrake presets to do this. This may fix the errors in the file.

"Your source must be copy protected (it is not!), badly mastered or in a format which Handbrake does not support..

That is the result I had trying opening the file in Handbrake....

I'll post tomorrow a small sample of this strange file.

Thanks for your help, I didn't know this freeware before, so that shows the positive side of a problem!!

@hoborg:

Is there any reason why you chose ffdshow for SPDIF? Why didn't you use AC3-Filter or are both the same and you decided this via coin?

AC3 filter is not capable to decode HD audio.

    Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

    Hi Hoborg,

I just read your update. Thank you for making SAF 22 final now!
FFDshow filter has been updated. It contains a fix for H264 decoding with new haali splitter. Do you think it is possible that this fix will restore the 6ch digital passthrough to my receiver?

Also, do you know the correct settings which should work for 6ch passthrough to my receiver for DTS and AC3 (no TrueHD).
I posted earlier that I have problems with playing files with 6ch audio. Problem is there since at least safbeta22test4. I have NOT tried SAF22 final yet, will do that when I am home.
Below is the detailed information what I have problems with.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to use DTS/AC3 passthrough to my receiver. With earlier versions of SAF I had passthrough enebled and it worked fine. Recent update of SAF resulted in no 6ch audio (DTS/AC3) to be passed through to the receiver. I found out that if I disable the ffdshow audio decoder post-processing in MP, I get stereo sound to the receiver. If its enabled, I hear nothing. From inside MPC-HC I have the same results.

I have the (old) samples available for testing. Fast & Furious 4, Jumper, Deja Vu and The Dark Knight are NOT working with any sound.

    And last but not least.

Hoborg. Thank you for all the dedication to SAF in 2009!
I wish you a nice and warm Christmas and happy 2010.

those videos worked for me, however i am using latest saf beta, then addon ac3filter to post process (instead of ffdshow) and use ac3filter for dts and ac3 sound.
i found that ac3filter gave better audio synch cf ffdshow audio.

    Hi.
Didnt think so, but who known?
I will not be able to compile new vesion until next year.
But if you have passthrough problem, simply stay on older SAF version, or try to configure FFDShow manualy, there are some new passthrough options since HD audio was added like "compatibility options". There is no way how i can try it :(

How come H.264/MPEG4 TV channels are not giving picture while DXVA is ON?
    It does give audio though.

MPEG2 TV CHannels ARE giving picture with DXVA ON.

    I got SAF *unlocked*!
I have Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 installed (before SAF)
