Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

How come H.264/MPEG4 TV channels are not giving picture while DXVA is ON?
It does give audio though.

MPEG2 TV CHannels ARE giving picture with DXVA ON.

I got SAF *unlocked*!
I have Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 installed (before SAF)

0002537: Cyberlink H.264 decoder doesn't work in DXVA mode - MediaPortal Bugtracker

Okay I see, but how come it still doesn't work with DXVA OFF?

    Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

    Hi Hoborg,

I just read your update. Thank you for making SAF 22 final now!
FFDshow filter has been updated. It contains a fix for H264 decoding with new haali splitter. Do you think it is possible that this fix will restore the 6ch digital passthrough to my receiver?

Also, do you know the correct settings which should work for 6ch passthrough to my receiver for DTS and AC3 (no TrueHD).
I posted earlier that I have problems with playing files with 6ch audio. Problem is there since at least safbeta22test4. I have NOT tried SAF22 final yet, will do that when I am home.
Below is the detailed information what I have problems with.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to use DTS/AC3 passthrough to my receiver. With earlier versions of SAF I had passthrough enebled and it worked fine. Recent update of SAF resulted in no 6ch audio (DTS/AC3) to be passed through to the receiver. I found out that if I disable the ffdshow audio decoder post-processing in MP, I get stereo sound to the receiver. If its enabled, I hear nothing. From inside MPC-HC I have the same results.

I have the (old) samples available for testing. Fast & Furious 4, Jumper, Deja Vu and The Dark Knight are NOT working with any sound.

    Password is: mediaportal

DOWNLOAD SAMPLE FILE: "sample files.rar" - size: 53MB (inside are 7 files)
    The content:
    • AAC 6CH 48000hz - Fast & Furious 4 2009.mkv (<<Problem)
    • DTS 6CH 48000hz - Jumper 2007.mkv (<<Problem)
      [*] MP3 2CH 32000hz - 40 Year Old Virgin 2005.avi (OK)
      [*] MP3 2CH 44100hz - Alien Vs Predator 2004.avi (OK)
      [*] MP3 2CH 48000hz - Spiderman 1 2002.avi (OK)
    • AC3 6CH 48000hz - Deja Vu 2006.mkv (<<Problem)
    • WMA 6CH 48000hz - The Dark Knight 2008.wmv (<<Problem)
tell me if the download is working or not please.

    And last but not least.

Hoborg. Thank you for all the dedication to SAF in 2009!
I wish you a nice and warm Christmas and happy 2010.

These are really interesting test files.
I have also problems with 6-channel-AAC and 6-channel-WMA files (no sound output at all).
But the DTS/AC3 passthrough to my receiver works well.
I use the latest SAF, latest MP SVN version and Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).
It seems that the ffdshow filter can not encode 6-channel-AAC streams to AC3 for passtrough.
These could be the reasons for that:
    - new bug in ffdhow audio filter under Windows 7
    - bug in Windows 7 (64 bit)
    - bug in latest SAF version
    - bug in latest MP SVN version

I have seen that SAF installs the 32 bit version of ffdshow even under Windows 7 (64 bit).
Maybe the 64 bit version of ffdshow should be implemented also.

But most important: Hoborg, enjoy the Christmas time and keep up your excellent work on SAF.

It's strange, it works fine when I play it in XP itself using MPC, but when I play it inside Mediaportal there is no audio... What could cause that?

    Didnt you enabled passthrough?
Connect graphstudio durning playback in MP.

    Yeah I have passthrough enabled.
And how do I do that thing you say?

Btw, on the ones that do work, Graphstudio shows 'ACM Wrapper' as the audio renderer.

Bump, looks like it got lost ;)

Make sure you add ffdshow audio decoder to MP postprocessing.
You cannot use x64 filters in x86 aplication...

    Should be DirectSound Audio Renderer...

And how do I make that the way it should be, on both files?

Using ffdshow audio decoder in MP postprocessing does not help.
I fear that the on-the-fly AC3 encoding function of ffdshow does not work under Win 7...

You could install ac3filter and you could switch the post processing from ffdshow -> ac3filter. Then disable all options in ac3filter except for DTS/AC3, and set ac3filter to output spdif, ASIS, PCM Float. This is what i do, However SAF / hoborg recommends not to install ac3filter.

Well I use AC3filter only because without it DTS/AC3/multichannel over S/PDIF doesn't work...
