    New DivX codec?

I just saw a squib in the May issue of CHIP announcing a ne DivX codec, which also supports MOV and MP4. Would this be a way to simplify things, and maybe avoid the need to separately install QT Alternative'

    Hi Hoborg,

I have a question. Could it be possible to make a SAF 4 (updated) with the new FLVsplitter included? Im having a difficult time manually registering it. W7 isnt accepting the regsvr32 command.

    thanks in advance.

    You can try SAF 5.

Yes I did and it works ofcourse,
But mpc + the ATI cat 10.5 preview DXVA2 thingy works with ffdshow dxva it doesnt. So thats why id like mpc added to saf 5 then. (or flvsplitter to 4.0, same result) :D

I notice ffdshow dxva isnt able to play the following file.

Well, if your video play without any problem in Graphstudio, then you are right, must be MP issue.
(I think) I didn't try that yet. I'll try to play the movie in Graphstudio and see what happens.
I played the video for a hour in Graphstudio and it worked fine. So this means there is a bug in MP? Is there anything I'm supose to do now? Or just sit and wait for the next release?

I installed MediaPortal v1.1.0 RC2, but the problem persists. :(
No idea what the problem could be. HD video's run fine in MPC-HC and Graphstudio.
    I just have three questions.
    - How much shared memory is advised for the onboard GPU?
    - I was thinking about buying this card SAPPHIRE HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCIE HDMI, but I serious doubt after reading this article on Anandtech. But I don't really know how important this is:
With that said, there is one catch: the 5450 doesn’t have enough compute power to do any further post-processing on 1080i video besides Vector Adaptive deinterlacing. Just doing the decoding and that deinterlacing requires everything the 5450 can squeeze out, which means there’s nothing left for edge enhancement, de-noise, dynamic contrast, etc. So while the 5450 is a very capable HTPC card (more so than we first thought), it is not the perfect HTPC card like the 5570. If you need every last bell & whistle, the 5450 isn’t quite up to the task. But with Vector Adaptive deinterlacing working, it’s a reasonable expectation that the 5450 offers enough for most people – compared to Vector Adaptive deinterlacing, it’s in our own experience that the other post-processing features go unused most of the time.

So the 5450 is still the almost-perfect HTPC card, but it’s actually quite close. Unless you need more than Vector Adaptive deinterlacing, the 5450 would be as good of a fit as the 5570. To that end it’s the cheapest of the 5000-series, and it’s passively cooled, which certainly has its advantages.
    - So maybe I should buy a different GPU? Maybe an older Ati card or a Nvidia card like the Gainward GeForce® 210 512MB DDR2/HDMI/DVI/VGA? I prefer a passive cooled, but above all a GPU with DXVA working smooth.

    sHiKoRa:
ATI 5450 is wery good to HTPC, i have one too. If i am not wrong, the article about 5450 was writen by testing on beta drivers, where some things was not working already. Now should be all fixed (it is working at last for me).

BTW, if you add FFDshow audio decoder in to MP postprocessing, try to remove it.

I have attached a sample in the previous post. Do you see the same?

Working perfectly for me (latest SAF 5 + Cat. 10.3)
    test.jpg

I will wait for official catalyst release, hope i will have new SSD to install Win7...

Thanks again Hoborg!! Which ATI HD 5450 did you buy?

I didn't add the FFDshow audio decoder to post processing list, so unfortunately that doesn’t solve the problem either.
