As an addition: These channellogo's can be placed in the relevant subfolder of the mediaportal/thumbs folder. Make sure the name of the jpg or png is exactly equal to the channel name in MP setup
You can also have a picture for individual shows to. An example is Lost.jpg for the television show lost. Put these logos in:
Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\TV\shows
Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\TV\shows

www.tv.com shoud contain most of it anyway. it is also the website which is parsed by MP for TVshow content
My show logos show up in the recorded TV section in place of the channel logos. I have many different sizes of images and MP seems to handle the scaling down just fine. Most of my images are just googled and then I pick one.

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.

In "MP Config" the following setting enables the display of channel numbers in the TV EPG:

In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre).
The primary genre might be something like Film (or Movie in the USA).
The secondary genre for Film might be something like: Action, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Romance, Science...
