I've been having problems with Miroslav's scanner since I put new cards in. All worked great previously, but now still end up with several channels not populating - going to try DJBlu's again for EPG to see if I can get full set - I don't need the Sky numbering as I have my own TV Channel Group of 'Favourites' that contains the channels we tend to watch the most.

If I can get the EPG fully populated, then the whole house system is working perfectly, and the WAF will be at an all time high The question is, do I mess before the Christmas schedule comes into play, or after ?

Hi there,

I found DJBlu's code to be more "sensitive" to certain makes/types of card. I was/still having issues on my test rig with a Hauppage card. Miroslav's works straight away. My main server/htpc runs DD cards but I havent tried DJBlu's version on that yet - so might not be an issue.

The issue you might be having is multiple channels with the same details? (I believe the EPG only populates the first occurence of the channel it matches). So if you have two channels with the same "details", but have chosen the second (or subsequent) occurence to be in your group, then it wont show any data.

I had this issue before and ended up running some SQL to look for "duplicate" channels and delete them.

It might not be your issue, but without delving into your logs/setup (which I dont have time for ) its hard to tell.

The GF has now finished work for Xmas, so there is no chance of me getting to mess around. The TV comes on as soon as she wakes up, stays on all day, and goes off (via SleepTimer) when she falls asleep.

What I do, whether it is right or wrong, is to combine every instance of a duplicate channel. For example, there must be about 6 x Channel 4's listed on a Sat scan, so I combine all these with their DVB-T equivalent, but not the HD channel. This has always worked in the past... but for some reason not now since the two new TBS cards went in. I have deleted, and rescanned for channels four times now.

Hi there,

It might not even be the same name that matches. MePo uses other channel details for channel lookups/matching. You can connect to the TVServer DB remotely and run the SQL against it to look for duplicates.

Luckily my wife isnt that back when it comes to TV...although bad enough

I have now managed to get a full EPG for the channels that I watch in my "favourites" channel group.

I still use Miroslav's grabber, however, this is now supplemented by WebEPG for those channels that were missing - I have only mapped those channels that had no data from the SkyEPG into WebEPG to avoid WebEPG overwriting SkyEPG data. I have also mapped the radio channels too (TBH - this is the first time I have ever had radio EPG in three years!! )

Everything is now working great!

Hi Batfink,

I didn't get around to it as the GF has the TV on constantly, and as she has taken a decent amount of time off work over Christmas there is just no way of accessing the server to 'have a play'.
