I am going to take a look into other Satellites to see if this can be extended to any other network providers.

I know that Sky Aus is similar.

If anyone knows where I can find information on Channel Lineups for

Nova,
Digital+
UPC
etc
then I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

I know of kingofsat and lyngsat. What I am more interested in is how the channels are broken down, like the Sky Categories.

I have found out there is an issue with Hauppage cards, which is mine.

I have improved the Scanning code. Takes 13 seconds now.

I didn't think of the HD Group. Doh! nor even removing them if the card is not DVB-S2.

I'll add that later on.

Erm... Not sure I understand your comment, but HD<>DVB-S2. Both Freesat & Sky broadcast HD via DVB-S.

    Hi,

The scan worked well for me, there was a minor glitch in the interface - I can't remember how I triggered it but it stopped the scan from working (it just said "complete" straight away). I'll try and replicate this.

I actually exported the channels and am back using my own custom version (few dshow graph building enhancements i've written that I need) so I didn't actually try all the Sky stuff.

@brain_damage - I believe all the Sky HD channels use DVB-S2 modulation. There's only the BBC and ITV hd channels using DVB-S that i'm aware of (it's likely even they will move to S2 in the future - they'll have to when regions launch)

I will be adding code to the plugin that will remove channels that your card cannot tune to.

What DShow mods have you made? Are they for Hauppage?

no they're not really related to this, few streaming fixes and optimizations and an enhancement to build the playback graph manually so I can use dxva for interlaced VC-1

    Hi there,

Just did a clear down on my test rig.

    Installed MePo 1.2A
Then installed updates from DJBlu's ZIP from the 28th
Followed all the instructions with the plugin

Tried a scan - but nothing - scan completes instantly with no channels found!

    The TV log shows:

    2010-12-01 20:50:35.768035 [SetupTv(1)]: ---- SetupTv v1.1.5.26834 is starting up on Windows 7 [6.1.7600.0]

    Sounds daft but try this

Click the TV Card drop down box and click on the card name, then try scanning. There is a little glitch which I have already fixed.

    Fixed everything mentioned.

    Link on Page 1.

Installation Procedure. READ THIS PROCEDURE. I will not answer any questions if it is written below.

    1. Download Mediaportal 1.2.0 Alpha.
    2. Download file from page 1.
    3. Uninstall Mediaportal Completely - Delete database and folders.
    4. Install Mediaportal 1.2.0 Alpha.
    5. Install The SVN patch files from the Zip file.
    6. Stop the TV Server and close the TV Setup program.
    7. Copy the "OpenTVChannelScanner.dll" to the TVServer --> plugins directory.
    8. Open "SetupTV"
    9. Click on Plugins and activate the OpenTV Scanner.
    10. You will need to enable the Grabbers for your satellite. Sky UK and or Sky Italia.
    11. Select your Region if you are using Sky UK. Sky Italia isn't implemented yet.
    12. Select the Card you need to use for the Grab and edit the diseqc settings if required.

** IF you are using a Hauppage DVB-S card then ensure you change the Diseqc value to "SimpleA". Unless you use a different one. Do not leave it on "None" as it won't work **

    13. Now click on the General Settings tab.
    14. Select what you need and change your update time if needed.
    15. Click on Scan now, the channel scan takes about 45-60 seconds including Database update.
    16. The EPG grabber is automatically enabled so this will happen when the scan finishes.
    17. Now another important bit. If you wish the Scanner to auto update you will need to Stop and Start the TV Service. There is a bug in the TVServer which doesn't start a plugin when you activate it in the Setup TV program.

You will now be able to leave the Channel Scanning to the plugin and get the updates when channels change.

Please leave your feed back and any bugs.

    Cheers.

    DJBlu.

If you downloaded the Scanner files before 02/12/2010 09:30:00

Then Download this file and place in the TVServer-->Plugins folder as I have made a few changes.

    View attachment OpenTVChannelScanner.zip

Fix. Auto Update now fully working. Amazing what happens when you actually compare the Last Update time to current time correctly. Doh!

    Todo:

    HD Channel Group
Auto Removal of HD Channels if card unable to view them.

These items will be sorted tonight.

    Just noticed.

2008-08-18, 19:00 Start date of EPG Implementation

2.3 years of my life. Need to get a life I think. hahahaha

P.S. This will be making your lives easier so please do donate to Media Portal. Lets keep it going strong. Thanks

I understand about being able to channel sort by clicking on the column with the channel name..

Once I do this.. If new channels are added automatically in future, I presume they will be added at the bottom of the list instead of alphabetical order?

Will do a complete new install tonight - let you know how I get on!

Thanks again for your hard work guys :)
