MediaPortal 1.1.2 released :- Hi miroslav22 and DJBlu I just spotted a hot-fix for the current release of MP has been posted. It looks like there is a couple of fixes for the MP TV server and a memory leak that I think has been causing me plenty of heartache. If it doesn't involve some major work and if you can find some time do you think you could create a patch for this release ?
@ DJBlu your latest patch seems to be working without issue on my test rig, excellent work and very much appreciated.

The SVN I used was after the 1.1.2 release, so any fixes introduced will be in the patch files I released.
Hi, first of all great job with this plugin 
I am using For The Record, with multiple Tv Servers and multiple Tv Cards. I tried this online EPG both for Sky Uk and for Sky Italy and it grabs and populate as it should. I have however a problem, that led me to go back to XML epg importing for Sky Italy.
When I record a Sky Italy program that has been populated with this online EPG, For The Record can't get the correct season and episode information. This bug will not allow to know what episodes 4tr has already recorded (and will not put the season and episode information in the file name). Therefore 4tr will keep recording forever all the old episodes already recorded. If I use instead Nephilm's XML Epg grabber I get all the correct season/episode information.
If I look in the history of 4tr for a season recording done with the online Epg, instead of the episode information I see a number composed by 16 couples of two hex numbers.
For Sky Uk I don't have a XML source with the correct season/episode info, therefore in that case although the online EPG still misses the information my situation doesn't change.
Please let me know if this can be solved at least for Sky Italy. Thanks again

You need to understand that OpenTV doesn't transmit episode information. The reason that it works with XMLTV is they have Episode Names and Numbers.
The way OpenTV works is by every Channel having their own unique number. There is then a Series Link ID for different programs on the same channel.
There is a Series termination flag which tells the Sky Box that the programme is the last in the series.
Thus the Sky Box doesn't need to know which Part of the series has been recorded.
Will this change in the future? Who knows, if Sky need this functionality then maybe but for now it is like this.
Sorry but the program works the way it is designed to.
What I think you are asking is for 2 EPG methods to be merged, this could in theory be possible based on Program and Channel airing times but would take some looking into.
Maybe use Sky as an EPG lookup and search the XMLTV for series info.
Thanks for your answer, DJBlu. I wasn't meaning that the program is not working well, on the contrary, it works great. However for people like me that want to keep their series on MP Tv Series there is the need to have season and episode information, in order to properly get fanart info etc. and to archive all the files.
Therefore I was wondering if there might be a way to catch two birds with one stone. This Hex number that 4tr gets is absolutely necessary for Media Portal and this plugin to work, or it may be changed? I'm not sure exactly from where 4tr gets it, I could ask them.
If it can be changed, I see for instance that an EPG entry seems to have the following info:
Title 1
Title 2
Description
If the 16 couple digits hex number could be changed with the content of "Title 2" (possibly as a menu choice, to allow for the present method to be used as default) then 4tr would know that episode and never record it again.
I am not sure if I am making any sense and/or if I am asking too much, I was only wondering that probably others like me use the Tv Series plugin to archive their recordings.

Would be nice but as DJBlu said the information just isn't transmitted as part of the Sky EPG. A lot of shows do however transmit this information as part of the description so we could in theory extract it from this and add it to the database.
Anyway it's illegal to archive commercial recorded TV (ie you should buy the dvd/blu ray)

Exactly, 4tr normally uses the second line of the Title to acknowledge the episode, only thing is that in this case it gets this big hex number. I was suggesting to have the option to substitute the hex number with the secon line of the title form the online epg (if it is there).
Using MP Tv series is only a way to organize the recorded tv, I believe the illegal thing is to use the card in the Htpc to record, the fact that the recording is indexed in the Tv Server database or in the MP Tv Series database I think is irrelevant

There is only the title and the description.
I will have to take a look at the EPG XMLTV plugin you are talking about to get an idea of it.

4tr is able to get from the Epg the season and episode number, and it archives the recording history with the Episode title and Episode number, in order to know what it has already recorded.
I use 4tr because it's engine for recording is incredibly easy and powerful, I never miss anything and I strongly suggest you give it a try, if you haven't. It integrates completely with Tv Server, therefore you keep all the functionality, but you can use it as a single access point to view and/or record on different Pcs and different cards on your home network. Ideal if you have spare Pcs and/or tuners that can be linked together with multiple Tv Server installations and obtain a single very powerful system.
