I used to use 4TR, however for us UK users, it is nowhere near as good as the solution we use in this thread.

The solution in this thread does not use Programme titles to do the recordings, so it does a proper series link in the same way that an official Sky box would do.

Using 4TR, it would also record repeats on a Saturday afternoon for instance, unless you set up complex recording schedules.

What is important for me, is that the wife can press the record button, and then just select series and that's it

I suspect that once the Italian OpenTV is implemented then the same would ring true for yourself!

I understand, however you can have the best of both worlds by using both 4tr and Tv Server. Since all the Epg info that Tv Server gets will be transferred seamlessly to 4tr, you can use this tool as you are using now, however with 4tr you can (also) record for instance:
- any footbal match that has Milan and Live in the title (I am a big fan ;
- any movie on the Sky It Hd bouquet that has Terence Hill as an actor (but not Bud Spencer);
- any shows that is aired for the first time on Fox Hd;
- any discovery Hd new show about sharks;
- ... and the list goes on.

I didn't find this flexibility in the Tv Server Epg, but my wife can use it anyway as she would use it if I had'nt (also) 4tr

I have both Sky Uk and It, and they work the same with Tv Server and this EPG plugin, therefore I believe we are on the same page. I only would like, if it is possible, to retain the season and episode info in a database format, for all the many reasons we can think of. Without disrupting the WAF, of course!

BTW, 4tr has also a very simple flag to avoid recording repeats, or not, depending on that particular show and your decision. If you watch mostly live television Tv Server is probably enough, but if you record a lot 4tr is really the best, in my opinion

I currently have multiple groups, one of which contains some freesat & freeview channels (I have multiple cards). So the question is, can I still use DVBEPG & WEBEPG for this..............or does OpenTVScanner replace.

The OpenScanner will scan all channels on 28.2e and will not replace your grouping if you untick the grouping box.

You can use WebEPG as well as DVB epg but this downloads 7 days epg from the transponder for everychannel. You can get the Freesat EPG and Sky EPG with the files.

You also get the Sky Series link function as you do on a Sky Box.

I'll say it again, the information you are looking for isn't there for me to add to the code. If it was it would be in there. DVB-EPG doesn't export Title, 2nd line and description. The only reason you are able to use this is because you are importing from XMLTV which has this feature. The only way you would have this feature is if I program the EPG scanner to update the Episode name in the Program table and you ask the 4therecord developers to search this field when it imports it.

I can't help at the moment so I recommend you keep on using 4therecord as this is the best situation for you.

I am going to take a look into other Satellites to see if this can be extended to any other network providers.

I know that Sky Aus is similar.

then I would greatly appreciate it.

I know of kingofsat and lyngsat. What I am more interested in is how the channels are broken down, like the Sky Categories.

Digital+ is MHW(mediahighway), last time i checked the the MHW grabber didn't work with digital+.

Hi,

Ok, followed the instructions to get this going and it works with Blue3Wide skin. My Hauppauge remote works as does live Tv.

However, if I change to my fav. skin MAYA then there is two wierd issues.

1. As soon as I hit a button on my Hauppauge remote MP crashes, i.e. from the main menu just after it boots. It will make the selection i.e. if I press UP, but then it crashes.

2. Forgetting the remote and using the keyboard, if I open a tv channel then I get the first 2 secs (video & audio) and then it freezes.

This is very repeatable.

Any particular logs to look at?

UPDATE 1:
Should have said, with the bog standard 1.2.0 etc then my remote and MAYA work fine.

UPDATE 2:
Tried PureVisionHD Blue and the remote works but livetv crashes after 2secs & some of the graphics seem missing.

UPDATE 3 (it's ok, the wife is out):
Tried Black & White 1080. Had to hack it a bit before it worked with 1.2.0 (weather folder in wrong location). That done, my remote & livetv works. However, Black & White doesn't have ability on EPG to change groups from EPG....Arrrgghh!
Have also started getting a problem whereby on boot of MP after I have started/exited it once already then it hangs at cacheing graphics. Have to re-boot. I guess I'll need to script clearing the cache on start/exit.

This isn't a problem with the EPG or Scanner. You need to report it in the SVN bugs section. If you run it in debug mode and upload your logs then they can help out.

All those who use MovingPictures

There was a change to something in the SVN that broke it. In fact I'll be suprised if anything that uses Lists will work.

Use these .dll's and it will work

MovingPictures.dll goes in :

MediaportalInstallDir --> Plugins --> Windows

The rest go in :

MediaPortalInstallDir

To get TV Series working again, use the File below. Install the latest version then copy the MP-TVSeries.dll from the zip file to:

MediaPortalInstallDir --> Plugins --> Windows

I reverted back to the original 1.2.0A because apart from Moving Pictures, TV series not working, (which is fixed above) MePo kept crashing all the time..

Something went seriously awry on that SVN...
