Hi there,

Not meaning to put a cat amongst the pigeons...

But what's the roadmap/future for the two seperate streams we have running here (MiroSlav and DJBlu).

It seems both of you are doing great work, but we have two separate solutions????

Thanks,

J.

Once we both have stable patch files it *should* be easy to merge them into 1. I'll post mine soon :)

Edit: @DJBlu If it gets difficult we could maybe ask the team if they would mind us using a new branch in the svn?

The trouble is so many users using so many versions.

If I'm honest the following needs to happen,

1. All users who would like to use the Sky / OpenTV / IO features must use the latest SVN. Recompiling 3-4 different versions is just daft. The more people using the same version the faster any potential bugs can be eradicated.

2. A thread for me and you and testers to discuss problems, maybe internal.

3. A thread for bug reports and help.

A branch could help however if all bugs can be removed then I see no reason why the changes can't be commited. Even if its only the EPG as premiere is in there and thats a proprietery epg system.

    Hi there,

I agree... I was wary of the amount of work both of you do, which is only compounded by "supporting" multiple versions.

It could be selfish of me, but I'd be tempted to say only 1.2.0 onwards - I find it very stable.

Most plugins work with the base 1.2.0 release.

If people are running SVN versions, then they could compile their own plugins (TV Series needs compiling to run against latest SVN, etc) Or people could help out and compile stuff for them (I'm happy compiling stuff, I just struggle with patches that dont merge!).

I have to admit it would make life a lot easier :(

A lot of my time the last few days i've spent simply sorting out problems with, and re-installing the old versions over and over. The database differences between them makes it really time-consuming unfortunately :(

Hopefully i've nearly got 1.1.2 working (i'll know tonight) so I think after this we'll draw a line under it and only compile new bug fixes and enhancements for future official versions and the latest SVN.

Personally i tend to go for latest versions so i wouldnt mind,
seems perfectly reasonable to only develop for the latest SVN.

Look forward to the new version with diskIO fix..

    Thanks

Have been using your patches for over a year now. Your work is very much appreciated and it has massively improved my Mediaportal experience. Will happily use whichever version you guys chose to support.

    many thanks!

I have just been reading another part of the forum and have come up with an idea.

It would take a bit of work but could eliminate the need to modify the TSWriter and TV Library all the time.

I am thinking if we implement a PID filter system in the TSWriter we can feed the raw data to the TV Library, which in turn can pass it on to a module/plugin.

We can write modules that can manipulate the raw data into usable EPG/Channel data. Effectively taking out the EPG grabbing from the TSWriter.

If we have an EPG Manager within TV Library that can load different modules(OpenTV,MHW,EIT etc) the user can then select the channel/channels/transponder they want to grab EPG from and allocate a plugin to it.

    Basically

    Module sets Pids to filter
    Data arrives
    Module scans what it needs
Does what it needs to (EPG Grab, Channel Scan, or Both simultaniously)
    Module stops listening

If anything changes all that would require an update would be the Module/plugin, in most cases. Obviously if the Core changes then we would need to update the TV Library.

I would like to give it a whirl and see if its possible. Let me know what you think.

Tried to setup another system for a friend however...

Has anyone seen an issue where the EPG grabber populates the database properly(I think) yet MP shows no EPG data, however if you click a channel name you are able to see listing?

If you think this is totally unrelated to this i'l post it elsewhere.

    thanks!

    EDIT
so it turns out he doesnt know todays date!
MP was looking in the past by 2 days and hence had no epg!

    Hi there,

Any news on a release of the latest SVN with the DiskIO change?

I haven't done an upgrade of my main htpc in a while, and I'm getting withdrawl symptoms! :D
