Re: Sky UK/IT/AUS enhancements How does grabber work?

I've recently upgraded to MP 1.2.0 beta with the associated Sky
EPG extension but have found that the EPG builds up quite slowly
in the Guide. I have been wondering how the grabber goes about
its task acquiring the EPG when no specific time is specified.
For example does it grab continuously while the PC is running? I
get the impression that it works in spurts with certain times of
the day preferred. Is there a way of encouraging it to go faster?
Is there a source of information on this?
Thanks.

I'm still having a problem with EPG scans and have come to the
conclusion that the software is grabbing only Now and Next
information. The guide never fills beyond that. Also the TV
Guide looks the same whether I use 1.2.0 beta in its original
form or when the Sky EPG enhancement is installed. It makes no
difference whether the EPG Background Radio service is ticked or
not - just Now and Next info shows up. To keep things simple
I've done all the scans with just one TV station ticked in the
TV Grabber menu (BBC 1 NI).

In the DVB EPG menu in TV-Server the boxes ticked are Enable CRC
check, Always try to update and Enable grabbing when idle. The
timeout is set to 10 min and refresh to 3 min.

Attached is a copy of tv.log. Suggestions appreciated.

Reply to KevL.

I think the idea that you can get sky/freesat in the same order as the official boxes with much of the same facilities. Cannot yet confirm this as I have been unable to get the sky epg to work, just gives error about deleting some channel or other. I agree it would be nice to have a simpler option of just replacing the tswriter to grab the few channels that the standard install cannot pick up. Looks like this is no longer compatible with the 1.2 beta version. If I am wrong about this, no doubt someone will pick up on it.

The work I am doing on this for 1.2.0 beta is in another thread. The link in my Signature will take you to what you need.

Really appreciate all the effort you have put into this, although a little difficult to keep up with all the varied work you are doing. I was assuming that these files had to be used after the svn installs or am I losing the thread somewhat. I came into this topic rather late, so having some issues trying to rationalise what has been going on to date. Looks like you have spent a great deal of time on this and I am sure that all of us without your programming knowledge are very grateful.

    Hi there,

Forgive me being a bit old school (and still running Miroslav's version for 1.2.0b - but I find its the most stable at the moment)...

Anyway, I am struggling to populate ITV4+1 EPG.

All other channels (ie Sky based EPG) populate ok, but the Freesat ITV4+1 does not.

The ITV4+1 channel is viewable, so hopefully its tuned correctly.

I have DVB EPG enabled for the Freesat Info Radio channel. I have the various settings enabled (try and fill holes - oooer, update existing, crc)

Can someone please confirm the correct freesat info details (I got them off kingofsat)

    Thanks,

    J.

    Hi there,

I have the same problem - no ITV 4+1 EPG.

I might be wrong on this but I thought that if you use Mediaportal 1.2beta and Mirsolav's Sky EPG plugin and you then check the box for using UK SKY for the EPG, Mediportal then uses Sky listings only for populating the EPG - clicking on Freesat Info in the radio grabbing section does nothing.

As Sky have dropped ITV 4+1, you will need ITV 4+1's listing another way.

I would also therefore be grateful for a way of scraping the Freeview EPG for this channel only.

Whilst we are on the subject, is there any way of doing a similar thing for channel 301? I have disable the BBC Red Button from my HTPC as it doesn't work with MP and 302 appears to never show anything any more (I think it did years ago), but I have still kept channel 301 and it has some good stuff on there - any advice on getting the EPG for this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I only use the Sky EPG grabber and have the Freesat EPG radio channel enabled and my ITV4+1 channel is fully populated - just looking at Tour De France 2011 Highlights as I write this.

Interesting - I do not have anything ticked at all under TV or Radio DVB EPG settings (that was how it was when I reinstalled Mediaportal 1.2beta). What exactly do you have ticked?

Also, do you have any EPG information for channel 301?
