is there a way to speed up Media Portal Bootup? Even on a good SSD drive it takes about 15 seconds, my Windows 7 boots faster!

Thanks.

We are looking into ways of decreasing the time required to start MediaPortal. But these are experiments currently. We do not know in which version of MP those improvements will be included. If they will make it into a version at all. Currently the tested experiments do have nasty side effects.

    +1

Just reinstalled win 7 64bit on Intel I3 2100T with SSD - Windows boots in ~14 - Mediaportal in ~12-14 (including plugins) - ~8 sec. in debug mode.

I also hope to see better startup sometime in the future - Standby/Resume still seems to have several flaws
    • Halfscreen issues on HDMI
    • Missing Mediaportal Keybord shortcut for "Standby"(For us without Remotes with power buttons).
    • Issues with playback, when entering standby while in Live TV - Playback stops/freezes when resuming or playback is stuttering.

I got this same problem with resuming from S3 when previously viewed a VIDEO_TS folder.
Live tv doesn't have this issue.
I'm pretty sure it is not Codec related because they both use the same.

Is there a bugreport regarding this? If not, please creat it (w/logs of course :)).

Regarding startup time - @Scythe42 - words of wisdom?

In many cases 3rd party plugins are contributing to the slow startup times of MP. On not so hot dev PC I have approx 3 to 4 second load times with MP.

Perhaps it’s good to look here for WMC skin. In the wiki you find also further infos about setting up the media views. For further discussion it’s better to open another thread. I’ll mark the EPG topic as solved.

I guess from this, that the mapping steps basically work. Please try to map some of the keys you mention to be not working and upload the log files afterwards. Maybe @Brownard can see something and a solution can be found. Please open a thread in the OnlineVideo section for this, we should not mix 2 topics in one thread.

I just came across WiFi Remote in a roundabout way. I am looking for a way to remotely control my HTPC, which is located in my home theatre room with a beamer and has Media Portal installed, from the living room, where there is a TV that is connected to the HTPC. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this remote control once the...

Well you can also use the Task Manager to determine what programs are using the resources see the attached screenshot showing MP2 using 2% of the CPU whilst playing TV. Also if you click on the "Performance" tag you can select a view of you graphics usage. It is a very useful tool to help identify why a PC is not performing as...

Yes, that’s planned. The new installer (completely reworked with new GUI) is basically ready, but the alternative TV plugins are not fully finalized. After that you’ll be able to select a TV engine within the installer :)
