Hi,

Is there a way to stop MP1.0.2 from trying to start TV Service at start up. I'd rather be able to start it up within MediaPortal as and when required.

Can this be done?

Thanks

    Hi there :)

I am not aware of such option.

Just out of curiosity, why do you wan it like that? It's not really using much resources when idling.

Actually this can be stopped. As I require the use of another TV software to view HD channels.

To stop the TV service do the following:

Click Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maitenance and then click on Administrative Tools

Then click on Services > Click on TV service, you may have to scroll on it to find it. Right click on it and then you will see a dialog box popping up with the General tab already set. Go to the startup type option on the general tab and click on the down arrow - and select Manual. This will allow you to startup the TV server manually through the services administrative tool panel or when you start Media Portal. :)

    Hope that helps.

I interpreted the question as a way to stop MediaPortal from starting TVServer.
You interpreted it as a way to stop Windows from starting TVServer.

So I guess we are both right :D

    Hi Rekenaar,

You're correct. I'd like to start media portal without running TVserver on startup, then have the option of switching on the service when I want to watch TV.

The reason for this is I hardly use the TV card, however I have to wait for the Service to start every time I run Mediaportal, and also even though it doesn't use up much resources I'd rather not have it running at all if I'm not using it 90% of the time.

    Thanks

How does the Timezone flag work? What input is it looking for? I went through the source code and all I saw was "America/New_York." I tried "America/Chicago" but still getting GMT times in the xmltv.xml file. Edit: Got this figured out. In the XmlTv plugin, you need to select "Apply timezone compensation when loading tvguide.xml" and...

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help! EDIT: I now downgraded the server (as I did with the client above)...

I do not know why this xml was in my theme folders, it must have sneaked in some time ago (years?). I simply removed the file. The Latest Media Handler plugin seems to be working as expected. I've had no lock-ups.
