add a refresh rate interval. and wait for it to update. you should see a weather xml file in mediaportals cache folder, also weather is visible on basic home screen, not sure if it is visible on normal home screen or not.

    Please excuse a dumb question!
but where do I find a manual for set-up?
    and navigation around the skin?

Sorry, one hasnt been created yet. Probably when it comes out of beta and becomes v1.0

I am a complete newbie to Media Portal
I had two previous abandoned attempts at installing Media portal many months ago!

I decided to go with StreamedMP skin(after looking originally at Mediastream).

Mainly because I installed the Beta version of Media portal 1.1.0_BETA-1_rev23491.
...the clincher was that this new version of StreamedMP v0.9.601
has an exe and says it compatible with this version!!
Plus it includes the TV series plugins and Moving Pictures plugins!

So thanks to the developers of this skin!!

    Please excuse a dumb question!
but where do I find a manual for set-up?
    and navigation around the skin?

You could have a look at this.........might help.....

    MP-RSS Ticker you mean? Yes!

it´s working in both "homescreens" (basic and "normal") at my HTPC. below you find the way I´ve configured it.
maybe it´s a problem with the network connection (firewall)?

I get an error with the latest SVN (MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot:-11-30-2009 21-44h - Revision:24281) when using Streamed MP

Error occured while loading the plugin
    MediaPortal.GUI.Video.GUIVideoFullscreen

It's incompatible with the current MediaPortal version and won't be loaded.

This means that skip forward and back don't work... A real shame as the rest of the application is working flawlessly for me.

Any ideas when/if this will get fixed? Or if there is a work around?

I use the newest SVN on Vista. I cannot see the oictures on the Basic Home. They are visible short and then they hide. Also the Text like Watch TV. When watch TV is highlightes I can read only Watch

i hope my english is enough

Choose Large Fonts during Installation. If already installed, you can modify/change the current installation parameters from the windows control panel 'Add\Remove programs'.
