I'm using the latest media portal version with the MPI installed tvseries, I have ticked the box to auto update, but new shows are not showing up without restarting media portal.

I could be wrong but it may only check for new shows every so many hours.

How many hours? is there a way I can decrease that time?

The tv shows are stored on a network share on a vista machine, i'm accessing it via wifi if that makes any difference.

I've turned on the "download information for whole series". Will see if that makes any difference.

Once MP (and with it the plugin) is running, it is listening for new/deleted files constantly (via filesystem events), there should be almost zero delay (a couple of seconds due to it trying to "buffereing" multiple new files, but other than that...) when picking up new shows. Of course then it has to download meta-data for them, which could take another few seconds. This of course only works for files named in a parsable format.

You do mean, new files in your shares, right?

Please post logs of MP running, and you copying a new file (that is parsable) into one of your shares.
