Hi,

Unfortunately, I can't read your logs as they're in German and I can't speak/read German, sorry.

I would be most grateful if you could answer the last 2 questions for me, as I need to know whether to start a new thread or not.

Regards,

netg

    - Whether you have set the TVSERVICE to autostart?
    Yes, I have.

    - Whether you have any MP/TVSERVER messages in the Windows Event Viewer?
    Yes, I have.

    - Whether you have any MP/TVSERVER log messages?
I am not sure, if I understand your question right. Do you mean, if I am having error messages? I cannot interpret the MP logs and therefore I cannot comment on that.

Thanks for that, I think we do have different problems as I'm not getting any Windows or MP/TVSERVER errors.

Same problem here, no (fault) messages of TV server in event viewer, succesfull notification on manual start though. Service is set to autostart and just seems not to get triggered.

Any specific log file that should exist for TV server or is that included in MediaPortal.log?

    thanks,
    Patrick

This is definately not related to the database dependency option. Otherwise you'd have MSSQL logging meaningful events that the tvlibrary had been tried to connect to before it was ready...

I haven't tracked the latest changes to startup methods but can you tell the exact build where the problem has started?

I am afraid that I cannot tell you when exactly the issue has been introduced but I know for sure that SVN 15220 worked okay for me. After that, there have been some problems with the SVNs, e.g. LiveTV was not possible at all any more ("black screen") and also some other things went wrong...

Because of that maybe it is a better idea to reproduce the problem on your side and have a look in the code... Is nobody of the devs able to reproduce?

    Best regards,

    Andreas

would be interesting to know whether REVs >15240 are already broken.

For me it's build 15342, but as my issue is different to the one in this thread I've started a new thread.

If I would go back that far, I would loose my database because there has been an update for the DVB-S2 parameters.

No way that anybody from the devs can directly look into it?

    Hi all,
I have a similar problem but related to resume from standbyt. On several occasions TVservice is not reponding and I have to quit MP and restart TVService.

I did some careful logging today and here are the logs as well as steps I went through.

    1. After resuming from Standby MP-TV won't respond
    2. Killed MP
    3. Started TVServer Config tool
    4. Tried to preview a channel but app hung, killed it
    5. TVService running according to EventMgr
    6. Tried to restart but it couldn't. Got error message saying service did not respond
    7. Gathered log files with MPTestTool (MediaPortalBeforeRestart.zip)
    8. TVService can not be stopped, restarted or configured. All selections greyed-out.
    9. Fromg cmd-tool did "net start TVservice" but got reply service already started
    10. Started TVServer config tool and replied Yes to "The TV service is not running. Should I restart the tvservice?"
    11. Got a reply it could not start TVservice
    12. Tried to restart SQL Server to have it restart TVService as well. Didn't work.
    13. Killed the process tvservice.exe manually.

    That did the trick!

Now preview in config tool works, as well as TV in MP.

As Isaid, ythis tend to happen every now and then when coming back from stand-by.

I use SVN from August 9th, have not had time to test with newer versions but nothing on the changelogs indicate some changes that could impact this (my guess)

I agree with previous posts in this thread, this is the single most annoying thing with MP right now. It certainly lowers the WAF...

    /Peter
