It seems the tv service is failing from a timeout during startup.

Go start --> run --> services.msc

Select the tvservice, right click and select properties.

Select the Recovery tab and set "first failure" to "restart the service" and click OK.

Then restart your computer and see how you go!

I can confirm that changing the settings in the tvservice.exe properties has no effect on the startup issue. That is because there is no first, second or third failure because the service is not running even once successful! These recovery feature do only take effect, if the service was running once and then would fail...

I am really suprosed that nobody of the devs can reproduce this issue because many of us users are eperiencing this issue... It is there now since more than 4 weeks in the SVNs and no change...

    Hi,
    MPUserFromGER & others:
I'm using TVE3 & have not changed any settings @ all & it starts here everyday when computer starts up & have not had any problems.
Is it set to Autostart in services?

    Regards
    Roy

ronilse: Yes, I have set it to "automatic" in services and it does not start automatically. All detail of my first post are still valid for the latest SVN (as of yesterday).

I am using single seat and MS SQL Server. And you, are you using MySQL?

same here, reinstalled the system yesterday(xp mce), running tve3 (build 15586) and mp0.2.3 with svn from 19/08/07.
    - tv server didn´t add a shortcut to config on desktop
    - tv service doesn´t autostart, despite service being set to automatics
gonna post logs when i get back home...

mpuserfromger: what was the last working build/svn for you?

    ronilse:
What can we do to figure out the issue? Are there any "special" traces or shall we post our database for testing?

    daHive:
Unfortunately, I do not know the exact SVN version when it started to fail but it was around 15220 because this thread was started by myself at 27.07. and I had the problem for lets say a week or so until I started the thread.

    Hi,
Do you have a tv.log or tv.bak or anything/something that will tell/indicate why TV Service doesn't start?
It must be waiting for sql server to start, but that should give you a error/failure in event log....

    Regards
    Roy
