AW: Re: AW: [Updated 24 Jan!] MPExtended WebMediaPortal 0.4.2

I found the solution for my problem. When take a look at the logs i found the the recordingspad was starting with \\DS209\.... (That is my NAS) and the pad for the tv show and movies was M:\... . I change the pad within My TVSeries and MovingPictures with \\DS209\... and al plays fine. I also made an account on the NAS en the same one on windows, but i will try if this is necessary.
Oops, didn't notice that in your logs. :sorry:

I can watch movies on a NAS lie about Media Portal look fine. Only when I saw this movie over the stream section will I get the error message "acces denied: / Sream /.....". NAS / Windows / MPExtended Service use the same account.

Concerns of the logs
Well, your problem is that Windows can't find the file. This probably means that the server doesn't have access to the network share. Can you try running the service as your own user?

Thats oke Oxan, I didn't saw it either. But thanks for the help.
All we need now is streaming for the iPhone.
@Husky
Maybe you can try mine solution. i had the same error.:)

Streaming only works if the access on the path \ \ NAS-SG \ ... (My NAS drive) is done.
Done this over the network drive V: \ ... no streaming possible.
MPExtended service user does not run on their own improvement

If I read this right, does this mean you are will implent streaming to IOS in the future?
For some of us it will be nice to stream to your phone since iPimp isn't updated anymore.
But it is to the Developer to decide if he wants to implent this or not.
Not the less I find this a great plugin.
Yes, it will be implemented sometime but it's not yet known exactly when.

[*]WebMediaPortal port number is now configurable in the configurator

This is great news. I think it would be a good idea to let the user choose this during the installation.
With 0.4 you can already configure the port in C:\ProgramData\MPExtended\WebMediaPortalHosting.xml. This just adds an user interface to this option. Making it configurable during installation won't happen as it's too much work (installer environment is very limited and thus hard to change) for too little gain.

Streaming only works if the access on the path \ \ NAS-SG \ ... (My NAS drive) is done.
Done this over the network drive V: \ ... no streaming possible.
MPExtended service user does not run on their own improvement
I hope to be able to fix this in 0.5.

Re: [Updated 30 Dec!] MPExtended WebMediaPortal 0.4.1

I doubt it's a bug, but rather something with my system as no-one else has posted anything on it. I tried reinstalling the whole MPE, but no luck. I've attached the logs.

The error I got when going through pages fast has something to do with "pipes", but I cannot reproduce it at the moment. Maybe the reinstall fixed that.
Hmm, that shouldn't happen anymore. I'll see what I can about it.

I noticed that on github you have closed this issue. Is there any way I can easily test if it works in the current version? When it comes to compiling the source I'm a total newbie so any help would be appreciated.

Btw, the newest VLC Plugin supports both fullscreen and deinterlacing and works pretty well (crashes a lot, but otherwise fine). The alert should be removed from the 1.1+ versions of VLC Plugin.

Not easily. I'll setup a buildbot sometime that automatically generates installers from the latest source code, but until then you either have to build from source yourself or wait till the release.

Hmm, which version do you mean (and where can I download it)?

Plugin version I have is 1.1.11.0 and it comes with the version available on VLC homepage (v1.1.11).

Works on W7 with Opera and Firefox although it crashes Opera every time I try to switch stream. On FF it only crashes the plugin, but restarting it works. Fullscreen works fine as do Linear and Yadif(2x) deinterlacing, which is great.

Re: [Updated 30 Dec!] MPExtended WebMediaPortal 0.4.1

BTW, Oxan... and maybe this has been brought up, but do you think HTML5 will be an option soon for streaming, instead of relying on Flash?
Not in the near future. I think I've written this before somewhere, but I can't find it:
    • The WebM codec is way too slow to do live transcoding. It encodes at about 15 frames/second on a PhenomII X4 965 for 720p material (while H.264 gets to 70 frames/second).
    • The Ogg codec is a bit better but still not even close to 25 fps. It also requires a bit higher bitrate for the same stream, and it doesn't support live transcoding.
    • The H.264 codec is only supported in the MP4 container, which doesn't support live transcoding.

mencoder is fast, although I know as of this date it is not integrated, I searched and saw it barely mentioned.

only one example of the many ways you can configure mencoder
    Code:
    2,5Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:turbo:vbitrate=2200:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=688:550:16:13,yadif=1,scale=640:512 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -o

    2,0Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:turbo:vbitrate=1700:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=688:550:16:13,yadif=1,scale=640:512 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -o

    1,5Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:turbo:vbitrate=1200:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=680:544:20:16,yadif=1,scale=560:448 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -o

    1,0Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:trell:v4mv:vmax_b_frames=8:turbo:vbitrate=800:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=680:544:20:16,yadif=3,scale=512:288 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -srate 32000 -lameopts mode=3:cbr:br=64 -o

I saw in another thread Oxan said,
In the new MPExtended project we've added support for plugins that add new backend support. So someone has to implement a plugin (chances that I'll do it are quite slim). Join us on IRC in #mp-extended on freenode or send me a PM if you want more details on how to implement a plugin.

sadly, i'm not a programmer, but could read mencoder examples and the old originaly program MPWebServices to understand examples of live transcoding.

Kudos for putting in time on this, just throwing this info out there in case some programmers weren't aware. Thanks

Also, if you or others are still reading, I've seen people talk about mp4 streaming, and it is accomplished with another Open Source program, GPAC and Mp4Box

    HI ,

after upgraded to 0.42 i get this issue.

after using or ampdroid or the webpages to watch tv, one of the two tuners goes mad and always says "no signal" and the other one still working ok.

I need to restart the tvserver (the entire pc , restart tvservice isn't enought) to get back both tuners working....... until i tune a channel from webmediaportal.

Disabling both webmediaportal services make all work ok again......

i tried to look in to tvserver logs but nothing seems goin wrong just nosignal messages.

are there other ppl that have this issue ?

    bye thank you

mencoder is still based upon the same codecs as ffmpeg and VLC, so I don't see much value in implementing support for it. In my experience the command line interface is also a lot harder to get right.

only one example of the many ways you can configure mencoder
    Code:
    2,5Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:turbo:vbitrate=2200:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=688:550:16:13,yadif=1,scale=640:512 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -o

    2,0Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:turbo:vbitrate=1700:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=688:550:16:13,yadif=1,scale=640:512 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -o

    1,5Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:turbo:vbitrate=1200:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=680:544:20:16,yadif=1,scale=560:448 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -o

    1,0Mbps Yadif: -quiet -cache 8192 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:mbd=2:trell:v4mv:vmax_b_frames=8:turbo:vbitrate=800:autoaspect -sws 2 -vf crop=680:544:20:16,yadif=3,scale=512:288 -fps 50 -ofps 50 -aid 64 -oac mp3lame -srate 32000 -lameopts mode=3:cbr:br=64 -o
These are only faster because they're quality is a lot lower then our current profiles.

That was about implementing support for new data sources such as MyFilms.

sadly, i'm not a programmer, but could read mencoder examples and the old originaly program MPWebServices to understand examples of live transcoding.

MPWebServices isn't really relevant, it just copied all the streaming code from Valk's original StreamTv and put in a few fixes. We're also using parts of this work, but we've reworked most of the transcoder-control code to make it more reliable and flexible, such as adding support for different aspect ratios and subtitle tracks. Adding support for mencoder isn't hard, it just needs some code to dynamically build up a command line, transcoding profile definitions (the command line itself), and someone testing it. Like I said, I personally don't see much gain in implementing it. I might include support if someone else writes and maintains the code though.

Also, if you or others are still reading, I've seen people talk about mp4 streaming, and it is accomplished with another Open Source program, GPAC and Mp4Box

All those solutions require encoding before playback and thus can't be used for streaming.

I can't imagine this being caused by MPExtended.

    Hi Oxan,

changing port 8080 to 8081 in C:\Program Files (x86)\MPExtended\WebMediaPortal\DefaultConfig\WebMediaPortalHosting.xml and restarting the service does absolutely nothing for me. It still starts on port 8080. What am i doing wrong?

    regards
    Mylle

You've to change it in C:\ProgramData\MPExtended\WebMediaPortalHosting.xml; the file in DefaultConfig is only the default file that gets copied to ProgramData during installation (I've added this to the FAQ now too).
